Just watched the documentary on TV and it has made me remember what a great band they were /are
Not ashamed to say it either.
Lots of snobbery around them and liking them seems to be seen as uncool.
But I bet you all know the words to at least one song.
I was at Wembley in 87 and it was an amazing show and I for one would love to see them headline glasto.
So there it is my name is Mr fun and I am a genesis fan.
And don't care if you don't like them |

I must be unhip too
Seen them in concert, their last tour before Phil left (well apart from the reunion 15 years later).
Remember it well, a good gig though wish i had been old enough to have seen them in the foxtrot and trick of the tail days.

Genesis are bloody amazing.
A child of the prog rock era, it has made me totally intolerant of the mindless pap that masquerades as music.
I envy people who like Kylie, Justin whatever his name is and that hip hop, the world must be so much happier for them. |

They did a lot of tracks for swingers though.
Land of Confusion - for the straight/bi/straight not sure guys.
Tonight, Tonight, Tonight - for the meet todayers.
In Too Deep - for the BBC lovers
The Brazilian - I don't need to explain this one.
The Cinema Show - for the porn cinema goers.
Man on the Corner - for the single guy at a social with no mates
Misunderstanding - for the no showers
Turn It On Again - for the greedy girls
Supper's Ready - for the pussy eaters
Invisible Touch - for the stray hand club gropers.
Follow You Follow Me - for the doggers going to a new location
No Son of Mine - for the breeders
Mama - lets not go there

I saw them live in Munich several years ago and it was one of those "WOW" nights. Was sitting just in front of Boris Becker too who was über sexy in black leather top to toe.
Fabulous sausage too on the way home.

"I was definitely a prog rock chick, still am really - saw Genesis on the Lamb tour with Peter Gabriel in '75 - bloody marvellous, so original!
"
That's what made them, - their originality, but there wasn't too much of that in the 80's minus Peter Gabs!

Probably my favourite band. It's always a toss up for me with Rush. Best concert I ever went to. May 1980 at Liverpool Empire, LFC had just won the league. Most of the LFC team were sat behind me. Phil Collins enters stage right, wearing Kenny Dalgish's shirt and the band give a performance I'll never forget. Simply sublime |

I have everything they have ever done. Bootlegs and all. Even dodgy hand held camera stuff from their earliest concerts.
I need a copy of the seconds out concert they released at the cinema (to much critical panning), but they don't want to re-release it out of embarrassment (not the music just the visuals). It came out on laserdisc in the eighties but I have searched high and low for a copy, to no avail. Anyone help? |

I much prefer the Phil Collins era of Genesis, I think there are two different versions of the band with Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins. They wrote some great songs though
I can't dance
Land of confusion
Invisible touch
No son of mine
In too deep |

Collins sings the Gabriel songs really well. Listen to suppers ready on seconds out. Its fantastic. Turn it up to 11 though. |

All those lovely contributors to this forum that like Trespass through to Wind and Wuthering, bless you all. Not many ladies of my age are Genesis fans, and even fewer are swingers. True unicorns! |

I like bits of the Peter Gabriel stuff, mainly from 'Selling England By The Pound' but I think even their best albums are patchy.
Love Peter Gabriel's 3rd album, where his face is melting on the cover.
