That is only while the current Home Secretary holds his position. Each new Home Sec. can revue his case and amend the sentence if he feels it's warranted.

Personally, I hope he rots where he is, dies, and then rots some more in hell.

Costs a fortune to keep him there. Let him out in the general prison population with no protection and what happens happens for me.

Nah, keep the fucker locked up for as long as possible. Killing him would give him the easy way out.

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

"Costs a fortune to keep him there. "

Really? So when he dies, they'll knock the place down? Or is it that all the other, less high-profile mentally ill murderers are all staying there at no cost to the taxpayer?

It would be a very brave Home Secretary if he did that, thats for sure.

My only regret is that they don't keep all paedophiles and serial murderers locked up forever

A self-confessed pedant writes.....

Serial murderers aren't released...unless you have specific examples in mind?

letting him into a general prison would cost more than it does now. they'd have to keep him on solitary and have a 24/7 guard. plus there'd be the kickup of all the prisoners when he gets moved. let's face it, someone would find out even if they we're keeping it secret, and it'd spread like widfire. plus there would be all the uproar of the public, conferances and public speeches on the issue to be paid fornot only all this, but he's overweight, near blind and diabetic, so he'd need a doctor to go and see him in his solitary confinement cell, which would cost more. i say just leave him be. he has nobody really apart from his own brother. he knows that he's one of the most hated men in britain and that even if he did get out, he'd be dead within a week. that alone is worse than anything else he could imagine

Are you saying all the others are paid for but he stays for free?.

No, I'm saying that the cost of "having Broadmoor" is not significantly affected by whether there are 10 or 30 inmates. Individuals will come and go, but we'll probably always need a secure mental unit.

Therefore it doesn't "cost a fortune to keep him there".

i think that's really a thing that's up for debate. i'm not by any means saying that we shouldn't have a max term sentencing. but take the case of stanley williams, founder of the crips and convicted murderer.given what he did in his life, he really and truely did turn his life around and become a different person. search for him on wikipedia or something and find out about him. it really is one of those, albeit rare, cases where truthfully a mans life should have been spared, and proves that there is truely sometimes a chance for change in people no matter how terrible their former life was
