I was in a pretty much sexless marriage (him not wanting) and it ended because sex with someone i love makes our relationship completely different to that of a platonic one with a friend!
Plus i bloody well enjoy sex, orgasms are an amazing feeling and im damn good in bed haha |

Need to me depends on your sex drive and we are all different. I'm getting on a bit now but I had a seriously high sex drive when I was younger and there were times when it was so pressing that I couldn't do what I planned until I had an orgasm. Whether with my wife or by masturbating, I needed that orgasm.
My frequency has dropped off now but I still need it reasonably regularly.

Nobody has really answered the question, do we need sex? Now although your right we wouldn't die without it, the fact is I need sex if I go without for any length of time I become irrationally angry at every single tiny thing, my mind wonders I can't perform simple daily tasks, so yes I need sex |

No it isnt a need, water is a need, food is a need, sex is something you want a lot, and love doing, and want to do all the time, but you can live very well without doing it, sex is not a need it is a want. |

In my experience those going without do nothing but talk about other people's sex life's.
Yes they can obviously go without but are they genuinely happy about their lack of action ? Not in my experience no. |

Some do, some don't, I most certainly do, I went without for a very very long time in a sexless marriage and it caused all sorts of problems. At the end of the day, for me, its a basic instinct like eating and drinking. Best not assume were all the same. |

I know a woman who is asexual, she has no sexual feelings at all so she doesn't need sex. I think that while a person can live without sexual contact and by that I mean touching, stroking and a certain erotic charge rather than penetration I fell that life is probably poorer. I think that the fact that you are here just for the sexy and general chat in the forums bears that out.
I can to a certain extent understand and sympathise with the people in sexless marriages, there must be a certain sadness to it. |

I think it's considered a 'need' like social contact: yes we can survive without it but it's can be a pretty bleak existence.

In all seriousness, being single for so long and going without sex for very long periods, I do worry that the menopause will hit in a few years and I won't want it anymore! I think it is definitely a need, a need for intimacy more than anything.

We have been together almost 30years and if you averaged our sex life out over that time we have probably had a two years out of not having sex if you include pregnancy, illness and ladytime.
That means 28years of fucking every day
And we still always look forward to the next time. |

I managed my craving for human touch during my very long celibacy by having regular massage. I didn't see it like that at the time but I can now see it was a definite part of what I was doing to relieve my tension and help me with the need for touch.
