Plenty of one hit wonders who hit dizzy heights and maybe didn't deserve it, but for 'big' bands, Coldplay and U2, oh and Snow Patrol - all utterly middle of the road cardboard material. Very well marketed though. |

Its strange with U2 as rattle and him and a few of their previous albums were cool. But the white they peddled out after was really bad. At Glastonbury two years ago, I laughed as it was plain bono didnt even know the words to his own songs. He read them off a monitor and wore sun glasses so we wouldn't notice. Retire ffs! |

U2 have some unbelievably good songs in their catalogue and Bono has written some great songs for others, although admittedly his is up his own backside. Check out him singing She's a Mystery Girl, which he wrote for Roy Orbison, under Brooklyn Bridge on You Tube and his voice is brilliant.

can we define overrated ? My take is. . Successful. . Yet deviod of proportional talent to justify the success achieved. Not ' i don't like this band that happens to have sold a lot of records. Yes. . People hate U2. . Bruce springsteen . . The Beatles . . Radiohead. . Nirvana. . Muse. . Chic. . Earth wind and fire. . Prince. . UB40. . Joni mitchell. . But were they overrated ? Successful with no real talent ? |

Ok, and this is just my opinion. I think the Beatles are overrated because they sound to me like a jingly jangly pop band. They were the original boy band and I rate them no higher than take that or boyzone. |

Funny how many of the musicians in the named mega rock bands (Pink Floyd, Genesis, Fleetwood Mac, U2 [and I cant stand them]) have made a second career out of writing hits for, singing, playing session and producing so many other 'pop' hits for stars that nobody can remember. For example Dave Gilmour writing, playing and producing The Dream Academy.
