long winded profiles

Don't you just hate profiles with 6 or 7 paragraphs of text with dos and donts.
Just looks negative .I know why some people write them but ultimately they are pointless because they don't stop time wasers and the clever arse holes get round them by just lying as you can become Brad pit by text ...the only true way is stand there face to face and see if theres some attraction....oh and long winded threads are even worse. |

I always think people can have their profile exactly how they like, whether its one word or several paragraphs. However I am less likely to bother reading an extremely long and didactic profile. |

If someone cant take a few minutes to read my profile and get to know me a bit better from it then honestly It just shows they dont put an effort in, which in turns makes me think they would do the same in bed and thats not worth me wasting my time over!! |

A lot of them have obviously been added to over time, maybe picking up additional things that people always ask about.
Have to admit if they're really long I'll probably skim some of it, but I have a v short attention span! |

Well said. That's the way I look at it as well. I read profiles that catch my eye and appeal...the short ones AND the long ones, the ones with photos and the ones without (though the ones without photos have to be something REALLY special to appeal).
Sometimes you get the same amount of information from both long and short, but thats just the way the cookie crumbles, and if you're happy with your profile the way it is, then hopefully it's attracting the people you want to meet.

So maybe every guy with an empty profile I should maybe just meet instead to find out if I may like them or not instead of getting the info across in my profile.
Hell ! I don't have time for that with one free weekend a month. I would rather put my bits across in a profile. Sorry if its long but saves me saying the same thing to every 100 guys that mail me. |

It's always difficult getting that balance right isn't it? Some people say they don't like profiles that are short and don't tell you anything, others say they don't like long winded ones. I guess one size doesn't fit all.
I think mines a tad too long to be honest, but this is the 'lite' version : my first draft was twice as long.
I have no idea if it's hitting the right spots or not, and I guess that'll all depend on how successful it is in time? |

My profile is exactly that... Mine! Yes there will be some that don't read it but their messages often make it very clear they haven't bothered to take a few minutes to read, and save wasting their time and effort sending me a message asking if I fancy a fuck this afternoon in a local hotel. Maybe it is a bit long but it's keeping me busy so it can't be that bad |

My profile is long and guess what? I don't give a fuck if people can't or won't read it. Especially the secret code word which is cleverly NOT at the end to stop lazy 'profile skippers' and I've been kind and put a one liner in for the lazy folk. Just cos they can't be faffed to read me proffie, doesn't mean they don't want to chat and meet me. Although (he said honestly) they don't and don't. |

Ours is pretty long although there re no do's and dont's. It doesn't seem a hinderence. In fact it's a pretty useful filter, it gives people loads to go on, if people can;t message us with at least something of relevance then we just pass them by |

Not really interested if anyone thinks ours is too long or not. If they don't want to read it or can't be bothered to read it, it's unlikely that person/s would be the people we wanna meet. In that respect it's a useful filter. |

My profile isn't short - but it's there to give people an idea who I am and what I like without being self-important and demanding - and hopefully with a little humour! There are also lots of pretty pictures - for those who don't like to read lots of big words!

Over the years, and on various sites, we've posted short profiles, long profiles, bullet point profiles and poetic profiles. We can report that none has made the slightest difference to the quality or quantity of the messages we get. Pics, on the other hand, make all the difference. Funny that |

As long as they aren't dull and a list of dos and don'ts I will happily read them. I like to come away with a feeling that I know a bit about the writer and their personality. |

lists of must haves and dont dos put us off - outline what you want/are and chat about the rest - saying that some are short and sweet and some lengthy ones are worthy of an award of sorts - we do read them i might add |

I enjoy reading a good profile that gives me an insight into their personality but I agree with you that some few people go a bit mental.
Those ones I don't read or chat to cause I think I'm unlikely to get a word in during a conversation as they ramble on like that lol |

Depends how they are written. The good ones are really usefull and help save people wasting their time. Someone who puts the effort in is more likely to get a good result than a few lines just stating that they want sex |

Well best not read mine then. Mine is long but then iv added bits to it over the past couple of years. If a guy has took timeout to read it and message me then i will message him back. If he has not read it i wont answer the message |

The better a profile makes it easier for you to decide if they're for you, the better the profile is. Most of what's written will relate to different people. Just be realistic and know that most users match with a minority not to all. |

It isnt the lenght of the profile but the content that matters. I always read profiles in full before messaging. Often see in profile. . No bald men, no-one under 5ft 10, no men with tattoos etc. I would then realise that i would be just annoying them by sending a message. Always best to know what the other person wants or doesnt want |
