"Scarlet I would like a little romance on the day..
Any hotel ideas? Or is registry office tacky? "
Hotels alone could cost you over £2k depending on the hotel |

Hotels are expensive and some will charge min of heads for meal.. So could be 30 or 50 even if you werent having that many! Have a look for a nice town hall over registry office!
Main costs will be rings, flowers, dress etc! If you want to wait until your child can understand the day you are looking at a lot lot older! My nephew was 4 and he doesnt really remember it at all! |

Believe me... it's romantic.
But if it's not your thing, fair enough. x |

Me and an old girlfriend were asked to witness a wedding like that many years ago in York. An older couple who had been together for years decided to seal the knot on the quiet while they were away for a break.
It was lovely to help out |

Under 2k could be done but not at a hotel or with a traditional dress.
Ex pronuptia person my advice would be
For cheap but romantic it can be done, I'd suggest a small unusual countryside or coastal location.
Best time to shop for wedding dress, bridesmaid dresses is now till Christmas. Check out ex sample dresses, get her to buy too big rather than too small and get it tailored by a wedding dress seamstress.
For floristry and stationery I would aim for cottage industry type people eg people advertising/recommended locally as they'll be more likely to negotiate.
January best time for men's outfits again ex samples can be an option or ex hire.
Get decorations and jewellery right after valentines day for best prices.
Catering - again look for someone local that won't push you to do something over fancy that will cost a fortune and nobody will eat.
When looking at venues for wedding/reception remember it might look quite plain now but once you decorate and with reception all tables are laid it will look very different.
Photographer - don't skimp on this as it's the only permanent part. Get recommendations and see a portfolio before deciding.
Hope all that helps

"It's official.. She has officially said we are going engaement ring shopping Saturday! "
Congratulations!!
I would be tempted to have a late afternoon wedding that way you can cut out the wedding meal and have a hog roast or something for your evening buffet. Or if you did decide to have a meal I don't think it would be wrong to get married then go to a lovely restaurant for mid afternoon take advantage of an early bird menu!
There are plenty of nice registrar offices around. A lot of hotels are cheaper if you get married on a Friday and after the wedding season is over.
Group on often have offers too x |
