I had to pop out earlier and wandered past a conker tree - fresh perfect conkers on the floor everywhere.

In my day all us kids would have had them all collected up in no time at all, but a the kids on the way to school just ignored them all and walked on by.

Not sure if that's just here or the same across the country... is conkers a dying sport?

MAMOBA, miles and miles of bugger all (Aberdeenshire)

loads of schools have banned conkers, so they'd get confiscated at school anyway

Nope still alive and kicking here. My kids constantly have pockets full of conkers that end up going through the washing machine

Short answer is yes dying sport if not dead already and it's not just your area

The long answer is to bang on about computer games, phones, tablets, 3ds (list goes on and on) and the effects they have on the children of today or another argument is the health and safety brigade banned them in school's as they are "dangerous" apparently

They've gotta get off their Xps3 and 4Boxes and megadrives to actually go outside, see daylight and find conkers first.

We've families in our street and in all the years we've lived here, never seen the kids out doing kid stuff.

Did a conker collection walk in our park last week.

They are currently in my son's bed, in my bed...and around the kitchen...ha.

Conker collecting is alive and kicking here! Saw a group of lads the other day throwing sticks to get them out of a tree plus at the youth group I run, they've all been bringing them in.

Just a tip. If you don't like spiders. Spiders hate conkers. Well fairly fresh ones. So dot them around your house and they'll fuck off faster than a girl getting a cock pic in the post

I loved taking my son when he was young through the cemetery next to me.mums and get carrier bags full of conkers. Then he would sort them in to size and shape! Nature is passed by by todays youth.
