Well, our 18 year old son went out for the first time (legally) to a pub. His friends 18th Bday party.
I had bowls and towels ready for when he got in, expecting to be handling him with all the prowess of getting a greased octopuss in a carrier bag.
I was stunned.....he waltzed in the door. Sober! He said he had 2 bottles of bud and that was enough.
He certainly doesnt take after me. First time I went to a pub, legally or otherwise, I had to spend 4 days in bed and be drip fed vimto!
Ahhhhhh, the memories.

My cousin who was 9yrs older introduced me to alcohol at 13 haha! Sometimes just a glass or two of wine with dinner (i was always more mature than my age) so when I got to 18 it wasnt anything to go mental over |

Don't really drink myself these days but deal with d*unk teens most weekend nights through work. 13-17 year olds wandering the streets at silly o'clock plastered on cheap cider. |

I was so prepared for the worst.
The very first time his older sister went out, we we called by the bar manager of a pub to come and pick her up from the doorstep. Ohhh the shame!! And by god did I roast her for it.
And I really expected him to go abit wild and woolly.
But, he has surprised me. Im a very good way!
I may even make him a bacon buttie in the morning as a treat.

If I'm honest, by the time I turned 18 I was bored of clubbing and pubbing, and had drank myself into a stuper too many times to remember, I'm pretty sure I didn't get slaughtered on my 18th because by then I had learned how to handle my drink.
Its a good sign for you though, you'll not have to worry about him going out in the future!! Juicy x |

First time my son got d*unk he was on holiday with his friends family. I passed out and had to be taken home my mum was not impressed. But the funniest was the lad that used to live next door was painfully shy and I found him swinging at the top of a lamppost had to take him home. Rightly or wrongly we've all done it or most of us anyway. But well done for your son for being sensible |

the good lands, the bad lands, the any where you may want me lands |
"Rightly or wrongly we've all done it or most of us anyway." Reminds me of my first d*unken ordeal at the age of 12...we'd ; a couple of us, snook out of our dormitory at school after lights out, made our way to Halstead the nearest town, walked into the off licence sales of the Essex Arms, which incidentally was next door to the Police station, purchased a couple of bottles of pale ale and some cocoa cola. Walked part way out of town and crashed out in a farmers ditch by the road side where we consumed the beer, fizzy cola whilst popping aspirins. Sometime later, we started back to school, I popped up out of the ditch and walked straight into a car who caught me with its bonnet and threw me back into the ditch, the car braked hard and skidded into a ditch on the opposite side. Fearing the consequences and with adrenalin pumping we legged it. Next morning feeling pretty battered and bruised I presented myself in the matrons queue, explaining that I'd been sleep walking through the night and fallen down the stairs.... |

my mum used to give me whisky in hot milk when I was a kid to make me sleep and my dad used to take me to the pub and buy me babysham or lager when I was 13. I got realy d*unk when I was 15 I drank half a bottle of gin and passed out. It put me off gin and I have only recently started to like it again, not neat though. |

My children were ' exposed' to adults drinking around them socially at an early age. During their teens they experimented but it was mainly at home. Now one does not drink at all and the other two are sensible about their consumption. Making it a ' secret or special' adult activity does nothing to educate them about it's potentially harmful effects. |
