I have been looking at ways to save money so recently downgraded my Sky package. I have also looked at what other service providers do with regards to tv, broadband and phone.
FFW I told Sky that Talk Talk have good deals on at present (even though my experience of their customer services is shocking, so not in a hurry to move)and was thinking of cancelling my subscription. I have been offered a new HD box, an upgraded subscription and due to offers applied, will be paying a little less each month for the contracted 12 months.

With sky apparently you have to ring on the right day. They have a certain amount of deals to offer, once they are gone they are gone. However if you are not offered a deal, tell them you want to leave and they will put you through to the customer retention department who allegedly have more offers...
Saying that I tried it with Vodafone... They said" Thanks for your custom, bye..." |

"OP please will you ring Sky for me? They never give me any deals.
You have to contact them through the cancel/retention department."
Also, do your homework and be aware of what they are offering new customers and what offers other service providers have. |

Cancel everything, I cancelled. Got a call from retentions, now paying £18.00 for all the entertainment, movies and sports channels. |

The risk is that they may actually cancel lol.
Well done though |

Exactly the response I got from Orange a few years ago.
A few months ago I managed to save £35 a month on my Virgin package (no sniggering, you at the back) by threatening to go to Sky. |

"It annoys me that companies will bend over backwards to keep you when you phone up, but would otherwise just take your money "
They rely on you being "lazy". Life for most of us is so fast paced, that we do anything for an easy life, like sort out our DDs and forget about them.
My finances will take a massive hit from January, so I'm doing what I can now. |
