In a secondary vote, the ladies tee times were revelead as being restricted to 1.00pm to 1.15pm on Tuesdays.

(As actually happened at a former club of which i was a member)

Maybe they've allowed them in to make the society lunches.

A few years ago the powres that be at Augusta relented to pressure and allowed Women members too. Fine, one may say.

The first two were Condaleeza Rice and some CEO of a huge Mega Corp. So much for equal opportunities.

Women have been allowed to play for years at the home of golf. This vote was about allowing membership.

The truth of this is the stiff upper lip types at the R&A have one eye on the opportunities provided by golf at the olympics and that has provided the catalyst for this change.

And its about time.

"85% of voters say yes to allowing female members at St Andrews golf club. "

Which means 15% still said no. Shocking in this day and age imho.

Edinburgh

Golf is a waste of a good walk chasing a ball round a field with a stick.

Silly me, i thought you needed "ballots" to play on the Old Course.

What i dont understand is why don't the women club together ( no pun intended ) buy up loads of land and go start their own clubs, as men did 100's of years ago?

Maybe they could recruit some pro's to help with the funding?

I heard today, on a discussion about this that there are ladies only clubs! If that is the case, why are women not up in arms about that?

Yep, utterly shocking.

Could have at least been a carefully managed 49%, if only as a protest.

There's logic in that, you can't swing a club properly whilst yer tits are in the way.
