Just bought a 2nd hand BMW 318, day later I have a cracket head gasket and a massive bill facing me. Fingers crossed the 3 month warrenty covers the cost of the whole repair :/

Not so many do these days, my company car has to go to the garage, my daughters car I rebuilt the engine on and my warranty is better than the garages, I fix it for free

I wouldn't be fixing my own car the day after I bought it...I would be expecting the dealer to be fixing it or even me rejecting it ( assuming it is a dealer )

A neighbour of mine who is a 20 year old lad had a puncture, he had no idea how to change the wheel and neither did his dad.

I didn't change it for him but told and supervised him doing it.

I would be taking that back to the dealer and getting him to sort it out. If the head is cracked they must have known as it would have been overheating and running like crap. Even if it is just the casket the head will need skimming.

I bought it of a so called garage called 'lily motors', two asian lads selling out of their house. Everything about it felt dodgy but i was a 21 year old buying his first BMW. I was completely blinded like an idiot by the whole dream of owning one looked so tidy inside and out. Been on the phone to citizens advice, getting a garage to assess it fully, going through the warranty to get it fixed if its worth fixing, otherwise im demanding a full refund including the service and tax i paid for it. I have the sale of goods act 1979 to back me up if they try to wash their hands of me. The bastards won't be getting away with this and i want to stop then doing this to anyone else too!

Unfortunately I think you may have done your money, maybe it's a case for local authorities were you can set your case out. Sorry to read your car issues. Not right or fair

I do. Just don't trust garages!

Then again, if he's bought it from a dealer, it should be covered by a warranty.

Personally, if I'd bought a car from a dealer and it blew the head gasket the following day, the dealer would be getting the car back permanently!!
