1st, you will note this isn't a "look at me" or a "why can't I get laid" thread.........
Why does bad grammar annoy me so much? Every time someone refers to them self as "Myself, or me as "Yourself" in the wrong context I want to explode!
I can keep myself in check at work (though I loose a lot of respect for whoever I am dealing with) but when I get home and see someone write "If you are interested, please mail myself" I want to scream and loose all thoughts of getting in touch..........Am I the only sane person in a mad world? or am I the nutter?
Help! I'm loosing sleep! I am getting some work as a telephone mentor/coach and I am seriously worried I will be telling off my lads 'n' lasses for bad use of the language......I don't mind being anal about it but wouldn't want to appear so to the guys I will be looking after............. |

"Myself would be cross with yourself!
If I have them in the correct order " See! Clunky. I would be cross with you is much more efficient language! Grrrrrrr.............![](/icons/s/wink.gif) |

It seems everyone who has ever made a spelling mistake or cocked up with grammar is dyslexic in these forums
Ive never been around so many people that have it in all my life, when did all the adults get diagnosed?
I was at uni a few yrs ago and it was only there that a few adults in my cohort were diagnosed, before then they had no idea at alls
Anyway you can be as picky as you want ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

"Ah, thanks. Spell checkers don't do everything for us dyslexics............."
No indeed they don't.
Grammatical errors don't bother me too much on here as long as I can understand what people mean. I don't use enough punctuation and I am a bit vague on apostrophes.
However I do struggle with "could of"and "should of" I don't like that. |

I passed an A Level physics paper at the age of 13, so they got an educational psychologist on the job.......Definitely dyslexic.........I learned to compensate, but still get it wrong now and again. There's no excuse for misusing myself/yourself though! |

My brother is very severely dyslexic spellchecker wouldn't help him at all since he has no concept of the order in which letters go in a word. |

Isn't there? Even if it's the way someone has been brought up to speak? |

Yes it does grate on me a bit. I do understand that the people who use it genuinely think should of is correct and I know I'm not the Lynne Truss of fab so I just try and gloss over it ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

"Oh I completely understand that, it's really annoying. I can add one of my own...the misuse of the poor benighted ellipsis! "
I have no idea what it is so could very possibly be misusing it all over the place. |

If you feel you cant control your annoyance then perhaps mentoring isn't a role you're suited to unless you're.a grammar mentor and coach. |

I am beginning to wonder if dyslexia is a mandatory requirement to be on a Fab Forum. ![](/icons/s/2/eh.gif) |

Poor spelling and grammar is something that niggles me too.
I see it all the time here and on Facebook and it makes me ask serious questions about the state of our education system.
If you bring the matter up you get a snotty response and the excuse ' but it's only facebook init'.
I don't think those offenders quite realise how such poor command of the English language reflects on them.
Apologies if there are any eroneous spelling mistakes. I am typing this on my phone and i'm not overly impressed with the accuracy of the touch screen. |

Naaaa but a lot use it as an explanation though they fail to realise dyslexia and bad grammar are not connected its word letter association that's screwed not sentence construction. True dyslexics type as they speak and the majority have pretty dam good vocabulary too. |

I don't think any of us truly realise how our choice of words and the way we use them reflect on us and influence the way people think of us.

"I am poor at spelling and grammar so if it upsets you or makes you angry don't message me just block me "
You dont seem to have a problem expressing yourself in the forums .
As I said before as long as you can be understood I can't see a problem really. |

don't worry yourself about such trivial things lol pointless dwelling on the minor issues because if you do i'm sure there is something about everyone that will put you off . As for myself we don't judge a book by how its written but by the lovely crayon colouring thats with it.

Life is far to short to get so annoyed over the use of other people's grasp on grammar.
As long as you can read it and understand what they mean then that should be the main thing. |

Dyslexia can affect people in many different ways. It's not just poor spelling, but using the correct words and their appropriate tenses, incorrect word order within sentences and even vocal processing - I have all of these, but I find the programme 'Read and Write Gold' quite helpful (was given it whilst doing my degree), but I don't always use it.
Two hoots to the odd typo! ![](/icons/s/razz.gif) |
