If someone has a preference, it is their preference.
Some people lie about their age, some people look older or younger than their age. It might not be significant to you if you fit outside someones preference, but for them it is significant...

If they want 30-50 then that means 50 is really upper end.
I say 30-60 on my profile but ideal would be around 40-50 if I'm honest, with leeway and flexibility around the edges.
There has to be a cutoff point somewhere so I'd suggest that most 'upper limits' are already pushing the boundary a bit and they'd probably prefer a little younger anyway 
Of course I can't speak for everyone but that's my take on it. |

no one day doesn't really matter but a cut off has to come somewhere.
It really is a more pleasant experience here if you concentrate on those whose criteria you do fit rather than those you don't.

If it were raised to 51, then the 52 year olds would say, surely a year doesn't make any odds.
Plus you always get a message from someone saying they are well preserved, have a young outlook, etc  |

We say 20 to 50, we prefer 30 to 45 but we stretch the boundaries to allow for people who are a bit older/younger than we like but seem interesting. 50 is the absaloute end of the stretch so 51 may only seem 1 year over but in actual fact its 6 years over what we actually want. I expect a lot of people are the same. |
