sick and tired of all the press coverage of Scotland, will it be a vote for yes or no...No one in England cares..After all the shit Alex fishman has said about the uk/England,I strongly believe thats if the scots vote to stay in a partnership, the following Monday the English should decide /vote if we still want Scotland..By the way to all you hardcore scots who want independence.Take a look at Ireland,Spain,Portugal,Italy,Greece etc that will be you in 2 years time a bankrupt economy, being bailed out by Europe then being told/sanctions/legislations you have to enforce....you will be worse off...

Are you glad you got that one off ya chest, because spelling Thursday the way you have, makes you seem a little impatient at least.

I personally think it will be a close No

Can I just apologise on behalf of my country for any inconvenience our referenderum has caused. We would like to invite you all up on Friday night....no matter what the result....for wine, cheesy nibbles and haggis balls. There will be a raffle....top prizes are a Scottie dog, a set of bagpipes and a fortnight in Buckie. Cheers....The Clan McGinty

OP I think you are grossly mistaken if you think no-one in England cares. Most people I know appreciate the potential ramifications of the vote for us too, not just the Scots.

Just turn off your TV and skip over any articles in your paper of you're not interested.

Another 24 hours and it will be all over thank goodness. I'm peeved how parliament is throwing bribes to try to entice them to stay, which will affect us all and we will have no say!

our three polictical parties have no right to promise scotland a better slice of the funds tax raise than the rest of the country. Its a disgrace, try putting it to the rest of the us in a vote if we want to subsidise the scots ,, bid them goodby , close the boarders, leave them on their own. Let the scots living down south choose what passport they want. If they leave us with the national debt,, cut them off completly. If our goverment lets us down on the independence negotiations they will have the electrate to answer to,, give them nothing. Sammy and the yes voters couldnt give a dam about the rest of the us, as long as they are ok,,, so cast them adrift.

Rant over ,, anyone wanna fuck? but not if your a yes votor.

"Camerons grovelling n shiting it as well as panicing,,lol I love it"

Best wait to see what the result is first. But have to say, and we're no Cameron fan, it was one his more compelling and sincere performances, well, as much as it's ever going to be anyway.

Salmond, however, does seem to be promising the moon on a stick somewhat and it's a clever tactic. Free education for all, generous welfare, free top-notch healthcare and 'social justice' - whatever that means.

It all has to be paid for somehow. Yes, there are oil revenues but it won't last forever and if the price falls further then it puts a serious black hole in the finances.

To keep all the promises, with a small and ageing population, those that work have to be taxed more. Especially given that and ageing population, typically, is more of a burden on a healthcare system.

Up to this point the Scots have done well from the Barnett Formula:

The population of England is 83% of the population of the UK. Instant abolition of the Barnett formula would result on an average UK expenditure of approximately £7,362. This would be a large decrease for each person in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland but an increase of less than 4% per person for England.

Similarly, on currency, Salmond just shouts everyone down and accuses them of being a Tory mouthpiece. Haven't heard him give a straight answer yet other than 'oh we'll keep the pound'. Well, all the other major parties say that won't be the case and the governor of the Bank on England says no too.

It will not be the case that the interest rates and lending of last resort for the Scottish banking systems will be underwritten by what will be a foreign bank. Assuming it doesn't want the Euro, Scotland will have to issue its own currency and create it's own Central Bank - this will not be without considerable costs and an independent Scotland may struggle to access borrowing on the international currency markets and Scotland will need to borrow. It's running a budget deficit now and the Scottish sector of the NHS is millions over budget.

There are many questions to be answered.

If Scotland do break away then so be it. But they really will be alone.
