I've been using the forums for a little bit and I'm enjoying it. Although sometimes I see someone post what is the complete 180' opposite of political beliefs, for example someone who would believe everything they read in the sun or daily mail.
This may sound horrible but when I see this kind of attitude on display I think 'oh, that's someone I'd never want to meet'.
Then I thought of how horrible it would be if I were to meet someone and discover they were like this, so I wanted to ask has anyone on here ever been chatting to someone they liked (or even worse, met them) and discovered that they had some very horrible viewpoints on some topics and you really clashed with each other, and did that change anything? E.g. you stop chatting or you say 'this isn't going to work out'. |

I try to stay away from politics at meets,I want to have fun not be bored to death
I would however walk away from a meet if they aired extreme views that were opposite to mine |

We've no interest in politics, nor would we want to know about anyone else's.
If we started discussing politics with playmates then something's gone terribly wrong and it's better be left. |

"Can't think why or how you'd have a conversation about someones political persuasion when you're looking for a shag"
Because you might want to actually like the person you're shagging?
Not everyone just wants to fuck a body without caring about the person inside it. |

Good lord! Politics is the last thing I'd what to discuss!!! I guess I'm lucky that I spend quite a long time chatting before even agreeing to meet so it's unlikely that I would find myself in that situation. I guess I'd they said something extreme during a meet that I strongly disagreed with then that would be time to call it a night. |

I have an 80 word questionnaire that covers politics, religious beliefs, educational achievements, favourite cheese, music tastes and details of all previous sexual partners. If they score less than 98% I won't meet them. |

Right I'm updating my status... haha... I am by my nature a rather political animal but don't really want to be discussing those views too much with anyone that I'd be meeting for fun... |

I just figured a political chat could come up through general chat. If you talk about maybe a current issue then that develops into something else where you can see their viewpoint on stuff.
It's not like i'm thinking someone sits down and says "Let's talk politics!" |

I turned down a guy once who worked in a slaughter house, now I have nothing against peoples jobs, thought I'm a veggie I do not push my views on others thought when I told him I didn't eat meat he felt the need to push his on me and spent the whole meet, which didn't last long, going on about why animals didn't matter and what they did to them and how they killed them, I really didn't want to hear it and I'm sure he was doing it to get a reaction out of me, in the end i got bored of his stupid comments and left, reaction received |

I can sometimes have some very strong political views on certain things, but aside from the odd discussion on the forum, it doesn't really influence me one way or another regarding meets.
Much is the same with my private life away from fab.

Is it true you only scored 37% when you did the questionnaire yourself? |

You can see clearly many peoples political beliefs through forum posts - the left/right wingers etc.
I've met and chatted at socials to people of most political persuasions, often polar opposites to me. Do I dislike them? No. It's proved for some amusing banter!
The only ones I'd avoid like the plague are those displaying far right EDL/NF type beliefs. They can feel free to pass me by anytime.
I'll even chat to UKIP supporters - I'm an equal opportunity banterer me!

It's very easy for people to give you a glimpse into their political persuasions without even meaning to and it wouldn't bother me if they had opposing views to mine. But if their views were extremely offensive to me I'd definitely not meet or take it any further. |

I'm a full time trade union official. My other half, who I met on here is a ukip voting business owner who loathes the unions, bleeding heart, tree huggers...need I go on?!!
Our friends are at a loss how we managed to meet let alone move in together...to be honest so are we as we're politically polar opposites! |

No,a knob can be a knob whatever their political views. If they are heartless, narrow minded and unable to understand that other people can have an opinion I won't be attracted to them |

Give me the Sun and Mail over the Guardian and their readership anyday.

We have known many people through the scene for over 3 years now , and would class them as friends . Some we have played with , some we haven't . But what I know is that we don't give a flying fuck what political persuasion they have or what bloody paper they read !

I didn't mean judging someone specifically on what paper they read. I mean the sort that believed everything that was written. People who say stuff like "Immigrants coming over here, stealing our jobs" or "You know you're not allowed to say 'Happy Christmas' anymore? People find it offensive." that kind of bollocks |

Not for political beliefs if they were properly thought through and considered opinions, but if they started spouting some daily mail shite or similar then it would put me off a bit on the grounds they'd come across a bit thick... |

Weirdly yes mer someone in town for a social meet, i made an off the cuff remark about a pay rise, he went off on one arguing and was extremely arrogant, we parted ways in the middle of town with me immediately blocking him.. He then two months later tried to contact me again and was just as arrogant and continued the argument when i said i didnt want to meet him!
God he was a cock and really thick too!! |

Yes I would depending on the situation and the views if completely opposite to mine, why would I want to meet or what would be gained? Nothing in my opinion, others may disagree but just my view |

Going back a couple of years there was a forumite (no longer on Fab) whose anti-Thatcher views I considered very extreme and pretty offensive, I had a couple of back and forths with him on the fora, although he was also a hugely funny poster on occasion...bugger me if I wasn't chatting to a bloke in Adam and Eve's and it turned out to be him...when we swapped profile names, we realised who each other were and spent the rest of the time taking the piss out of each other in a friendly way, we kept in touch via PM whilst he was still on Fab - nice bloke and I still miss his funny posts though not his political views |

No, many people I socialise with outside FAB have views I disagree with, it would be a dull and very wrong life if every person was 100% agreeable.
Positive aspects of a persons character often outweigh the negatives. so that person is someone you get a spark from. There would in some cases need to be a reason to give a second chance to someone who posted certain views on the forums, but if they found that reason then hell yes lets get it on. |

I don't talk politics during and after (too busy). I might touch on the subject before I met to get a feel for the person. I would not want to end up in bed with someone who had expressed views that I found distasteful. |
