When you buy stuff on ebay, do you leave any feedback at all? If not how comes?
Last few items I've sold on ebay, they've never bothered leaving me feedback, I find it pretty annoying as it looks like I've not sold anything in months. I always leave feedback. |

I leave feedback first when I'm the seller, when they pay. As the buyer I expect the seller to leave feedback first.
My part of the transaction, as the buyer, is over when I've paid. That's when I expect the feedback.
I always leave feedback for buyers and for sellers who've left it for me. |

I haven't sold on there in years but when that happened to me I just used to message them under the pretence that I was enquiring if they had recieved the item and then reminded them to leave feedback. |

Yep. Spot on. As more of a buyer than a seller, I always leave feedback for those that have left feedback for me.
As you say, I've completed my end of the contract first, when paying. So expect feedback then.
I'll leave feedback after safe delivery and goods are as described. If they can't be bothered to leave my feedback, I can't theirs either |

This is really annoying... The wife is trying to expand her shop and she needs 70% feedback per month to be given extra selling quantities.
Literally the minimum of people have left feedback so just recently she won't leave feedback unless she has it first.

Most of the time I forget. Then I log back in a few weeks later and realise I haven't left any feedback for a few items. So I skip through them and blast them all off in one go.

I usually leave feedback both when I'm buying or if I'm selling.
It's part of the culture on ebay
See the number in brackets after the userid? That number represents how much feedback that user has, and is a useful tool for helping you decide if the buyer or seller is reliable or not |

Hmmm not a great business model on the face of it - they've paid up front and before they've received the goods, and she's not prepared to leave feedback unless they, the customer, do first!?
I would expect your feedback % to fall, but hey, I could be wrong. Good luck with the business anyway! |

She wouldn't get feedback from me then. Sellers leave feedback for me first or I won't leave any either. It's easy enough to check someone's feedback history and see if it looks like they tend to leave feedback or not.
It used to be that sellers waited until the buyer left feedback so they had the option of retaliation if anything negative was said.
That's no longer an option for sellers so there's no reason to wait.
I can't see anything wrong with sending a message saying is everything ok and could you leave feedback please? |

They've paid first, trusting that she'll send the right item, in good condition, in a timely manner.
Expecting them to then leave feedback first too seems a bit of a cheek. |

As a seller you're paid before sending the goods - so you have first opportunity to leave feedback.
I usually expect feedback soon after someone's received the item I sent. Not necessarily straight away, as they may not have used/tested it.
As a buyer I'll leave it as soon as I've used/ tried whatever I bought. It's only fair.
But I don't stress if I don't get it and can't be arsed to chase.
Still on 100% and nearly 1000 bits of feedback. So mustn't grumble!

"Haha not bothered.. She's making enough money as it is. "
Bothered enough to change how she leaves feedback and to complain here *shrug*
's up to her how she manages her account, same as everyone else. Treating customers well does seem to pay off in the end though. |

"Haha not bothered.. She's making enough money as it is. "
Fair enough. Assuming what she sells is also sold by other vendors at a similar price, the decision not to offer customer care *might* be the decision that makes one customer choose her (or not, as the case may be) versus a competitor.
If I wanted to buy a widget, and it was £1 all in from your wife, and exactly the same product £1 all in from a competitor, I might be inclined to go to the competitor next time if she didn't leave me feedback.
Maybe I'm the exception, and by sounds of it times are good right now. But you might need to rely on those customers in the bad times too..
Anyway, it's her business to run as she pleases! Good luck to her |

Not complaining on here, it's a thread about eBay feedback. That's why I wrote the comment.

"I dislike selling on ebay these days and am using Gumtree more and more.
I've got some things more suited to ebay to list though so I'm going to have to run that gauntlet soon."
Is Gumtree collection only and one "buy it now" price? We use ebay a lot and have had a few sale items removed. We always leave feedback as a buyer when we receive the item, but only leave feedback as a seller after the buyer has left theirs.

If you are an exception, I am also an exception.
I expect eBay sellers - particularly business sellers - to reward my trust in them and their products with feedback when I pay.
I'm buying lot of repeat orders of materials for a hobby lately and things like communication and feedback definitely affect from whom I decide to order the next time. |

I've just sold 3 pairs of boots and done myself out of posting and packing for one of them....they have not left any feedback....had a message to say the boots didn't fit and they have now put them back on for double than what they paid for them.. |

I mostly sell. I always leave feedback for buyers as soon as they've paid.
I'd say less then half of my buyers leave it for me. It's a bit annoying but the feedback I do get is excellent so it's ok.
When I buy I leave feedback once the item has arrived safely. |

were the same, find it rather rude when they dont leave you feedback but are quick enough to ask if its been posted out yet.
we dont leave feedback till theyve left it for us and are happy with their items. If theyre not we can try resolve it. |

Why are they cheeky? They are their boots, bought & paid for. They can sell them for what they like. Thats not cheeky, thats good business sense. |

It's just my opinion, I still think it's cheeky nonetheless. |
