Anyone else hate this stupid Sunday trading law?

My milk has gone off and I have to buy more expensive milk because Asda isn't open. Any other day, I can go in, but not on a Sunday

Just done a 10 mile round trip for some.

Still - the roads were clear and the extra 29p wasn't that bad!

Presumably they open at 10? If you can't wait that long plan ahead?

I've never really seen the need for 24 hour shopping.

I do.

In case of an emergency.

Like running out of Haribos and cigs at 2am whilst watching a whole series of GOT.

You must live in the back of beyond then as all the supermarkets open at 10 am down here plus the local Tesco's express is open at 6am £1 for 4 pints, bargain

near the sounds of the wimborne quarter jack!

I helped a trader set up his stand at the Great Dorset Steam Fair the other week. He`s a lovely, God fearing man from Northern Ireland and come the Sunday his stand was cleared and he was on his way back to Ireland. He never trades on a Sunday, even when he has taken on the expense of travelling to the largest show of it`s kind in the world!

I'm currently waiting for B&Q to open at 9am... rock and fucking roll!

However I popped to the supermarket on the way home from a wedding last night to get breakfast stuff so I'm quite happy that we have 24 hour shopping up here.

Think yourself lucky.

A lot of Europe still goes on lock down come Sunday.

You might get a bite to eat and maybe some convenience items but you can forget high street and supermarket

What crap Asda doesn't open in Sundays? They might open later but pretty much every supermarket near me opens on a Sunday. Plus the local farm shop and the village shop.

However,is it theor fault for not being open or your fault for not forward planning?

Going shopping the Saturday before a bank holiday is always good fun. The place looks like a riot is in mid progress

It was about 7am when I posted this, Asda opened at 10.

I was moaning that asda wasn't open at 7, when I wanted milk for my 1st cup of coffee for the day. Any other day, I could pop down and any time I wanted, but not on a Sunday.

when you buy some, get a spare one, use a little out of the top then freeze the rest......Then like me you would never run out,,,,,,,,,, just as you remember to replace when you have used it..

That shows a level of preparedness that's way out of sync with my personality type. I just drink tea without milk if I run out.

Yep that is a stupid law, because I'm pretty certain that the people being made to work sunday don't see the extra revenue in their wages. Or do they? Anybody know?

I've got to be honest, I'd rather see a return to the 80s when most shops didn't open at all on a sunday, not that this would happen!

Well it's all seems to be kicking off again.....

Albeit in a very mild mannered way,,,

I like the idea of shops being closed one day a week...... but not the day I want to go shopping......

the problem i have is that the SNP have put themselves in an awkward position...

1) the SNP have gotten involved in something that doesn't effect them....

2) the sunday trading proposal is exactly the same as the one currently operating in scotland... which was passed by the SNP government in edinburgh.....

but rich for them to say "we can have it... but we will deny you the same!"
