The book is 50 this year, and there is a documentry on BBC4 about the author etc., to be followed by the film itself, starring Gregory Peck, and is one of my favourite films.
Bliss! |

Great book, and have seen the stage play many times. Studied it at A level.
Another good book is Far from the madding crowd. |

My eldest son was not a great reader, no matter how many books I read to him or gave to him.
Now he reads some of my old books, imagine my pleasure seeing him read To kill a mockingbird and Catcher in the rye. xxxx |

My daughter just finished studying it for her GCSE English, and again it was one of a very few books (Harry bloody Potter notwithstanding!) that she's ever read and genuinely enthused about!
Shame the documentary was on too late to help her with her exams though |
