Now I have been watching Dexter and after a few month break (watching too many and overkilling it) I am now up to Season 8.
Which brings me to my question - did any of you give up on it and why? |

"The last season is a total let down, a real cop out. Season 4 with Trinity was by far the best. Went slowly downhill from there I felt "
This. I think I wish I stopped at the second last series.
Watching it made me feel funny. I can't explain it but it did that the whole way through. I didn't like that... a bit like nervous energy. I couldn't stop watching it. I felt bad not wanting him to get caught. He's a serial killer!! The ending needed to be spectacular and it wasn't for me. |

I think that was probably the point, to make you root for the bad guy, who was a kind of good guy... But still a bad guy lol |

Unfortunately I stuck all the way through it. If i'm close to the end of something I try and stick with it, but Dexter was the final straw. Now, if somethings shit and i'm watching it 'just because' then I stop watching it.
Did it with The Walking Dead after the season 3 finale and with Supernatural after the season 8 finale.
But re: Dexter, the high point of the show was season 4. 5 stumbled quite a bit but it got better in season 6. From then on though, the series was too drawn out and with villains that were rubbish or didn't suit being series long antagonist. Annoyingly, the ones that had potential like Peter Weller's private investigator or Ray Stevenson's Russian gangster, could have been in the show for the long run, but they got rid of them after a few episodes.
season 7 and 8 should have just been 1 series, with a better antagonist and a much better resolution.
My god, what a horrible ending lol |

I gave up after the pilot episode (only watched that a few months ago). I really didn't like the narrative style. A few friends are saying it does get a lot better, and to stick with it. But I haven't bothered yet. |

I stuck it out all the way, but it definitely struggled by the end.
They should have wrapped it up MUCH earlier than that, but I guess they didn't want to stop riding the wave.
Shame, really. |

I watched the whole thing through Netflix. Up to The Trinity killer was superb, and whiles I fully agree it went down hill from there the intrigue of how it would all culminate kept me watching |
