I think like most things on here its all down to personal interpretation.
If you feel like a BBW then call yourself one, if you don't don't, its all down to choice and if youre talking about yourself then you have the choice to be who or what you like.

Agree: it's only when you're a BBW and put average that you may have a problem! |

im a size 18/38dd and say so on my profile. I wouldnt see any point in pretending to be average because im not, im just me, i dont label myself as anything, i have never used the term BBW to describe myself, dont feel the need to |

i agree with Raz
it has come up before and a few people felt that to label themselves BBW would come a cross as conceited s it stands for Big Beautiful Woman.
Personally i use it as an easy tag for people to see, i am a big gal and if that is not what the person is looking for then they can move on without email tennis resulting in disappointment wen they find out what size i am.
put what ever you feel confident with at the end of the day - its your profile |

Nothing wrong with being a BBW! Just curious as to others thoughts on it. Have seen a fem size 16 describing herself as a BBW when she was smaller than me. But as you say....doesn't matter as long as you are honest and happy :D
Thanks for the responses.xxxx |

"i was a bbw but after my mums stroke i lost nearly 3 stone,i always say i am still bbw on the inside tho,its a state of loving your body ,not a size imo"
Couldn't agree more, if this site has taught me anything (and to be honest it's taught me lots ) its that so long as we are happy with ourselves it so doesn't matter what size, colour, creed, age etc etc etc we are.
Be honest and open and you can't go wrong

Size 16 is the average size for women in the UK... thus they are average not BIG (as in BBW). In my opinion... people who claim to be BBW's and are size 14/16 either have HUGE hang-ups or think making out they are bigger than they are will stop people thinking they are fat when they meet. |

Doesn't it break down to 3 tick boxes?
Are you:-
1/Big.. Well it depends if big is above size 18, 20, 22,24? (this is the grey area one)
2/Beautiful. (A little easier as you are or your not)
3/Female (Well i would like to say this one is easiest)
So if it's yes to all three you are.
BUT BBW also stands for Big Bad Wolf |

May years ago when women had to do everything by hand and before electric was invented women on average was a lot slimmer, because of their life style, they had less money, portion sizes was smaller etc, now days we do bugger all, we have machines to do everything for us, we have more money, we eat more and we have got bigger, now as you say the average is a size 16, now a size 16 is a size 16, its the same back them as it is now all because we as a nation have got bigger that dont mean a size 16 isnt big anymore it just means there more people at that size
im a size 14 and i would class myself as big, because a size 14 is big, but as for whats a BBW surely that depends on your hight too, if your a size 18 and 5ft 2 then id say thats a BBW, if your a size 18 and 5ft 10 then maybe not, because your hight will compensate for your weight |

Not really – as being the average size still means you’re fat Not you personally – generally speaking)…. it means you’re over weight, chunky, obese, plump in the hump. However, BBW’s (or rather the term) came about to describe those at the higher end of morbid obesity … really fat… BIG!
Just seems to me that some people have hang-ups and so call themselves BBW’s so they can sit on the smallest end of the BBW scale rather than being plain old fat at the fattest end of the average scale.

When I first discovered internet dating all these acronyms confused me. Didn't know what BBW stood for, and although my talking mirror confirms I'm beautiful the second "b" for me stands for black.
No one likes labels, but the truth of the matter is you need them to decide what you want. If fat women don't float your boat you can avoid me, if you want a bi woman you know I'm not for you etc. If we didn't have labels how would we meet the "right" type of people?!! |

And that's why I object to people trying to stretch labels to make them a one size fits all so nobody feels left out... because then they become meaningless. Not just the BBW label either.
Only women could get away with slapping on a label and claiming to be something the label was not intended to describe… just because it makes them feel better.
What sort of stick would a guy get if he called himself VWE yet only had a 5 inch pencil pecker… he may be confident it’s the biggest penis he’s ever owned.
What stick does a guy get for calling himself ‘single’ when he has a real life partner…. he may be confident his wifey won’t be joining the party.
People may say they hate labels… but we need them to help people (and ourselves) make decisions and understand roles.
