So some new research has been released that suggests the most simple measure is if your waist is more than half your height you are over weight. Apparently a much more valid test than BMI. If I breathe in I'm right on the limit! Food for thought (no pun intended!) |

"Mmnm do I use man inches or real inches lol.... "
If used in the same proportion as the ones used by most men to measure cocks than I reckon we all have waist lines which are at least 33% larger than we thought!! |

I wonder how much money went into researching and coming to this rationale - a quick glimpse in the mirror is just as effective, in fact I don't even need a mirror - I'm fat! |

So, for me to keep my waist as-is under this new rule, seems I'll be tall enough to rest my dick comfortably on the top of Hagrid's head.
Why do so many confuse fit and fat? |

I don't think that's a fair measure. What if your body weight goes to your tummy first as opposed to your bum or thighs.
Anyone can tell if they are fat ........ can't they.

Apparently they have linked the research to life expectancy and believe it to be a very effective measure but who knows if it is right. Gut feel (again no pun intended) it feels about right as an easy guide. |

As a society, I'd say no we can't. We've lied to ourselves for so long we've normalised being overweight. Take a look around pretty much any town centre on a Saturday afternoon and see how many people have a belly and extra chins.
We are sleepwalking into crisis yet we daren't use the 'fat' word.
I cycle well over 100 miles a week, my heart rate is in the low 40's and I weigh 9 stone.
I went to see the doc about getting a well man check up & she tried to lecture me on smoking & drinking - I don't smoke, drink sparingly & the doc was morbidly obese!

Cycle 30 to 60 miles a week
Walk anywhere from 5 to 15 miles a week
Mostly vegetarian / piscatarian diet. Haven't eaten junk food in months.
Drink rarely. Don't smoke.
-
Still have a 40 inch waist and a 52 inch chest. Go figure. I quit obsessing about it a long time ago. |

I haven't read all the research but based on their high level assumptions i reckon you might have a life expectancy of about a week and a half, get out there and enjoy!! |

I don't care what people call me. I am happy with my size and have been for years. I have been smaller but I felt horrible and insecure.
I do take the mickey out of my boobs being big but thats not going to change. It has its advantages lol.
Mind you if anyone calls me fat to my face they may not be breathing after lol |

"Well I don't go to the gym, so I must be out of shape!
Muhahaha! The amount I eat, I should be enourmous!"
Why can men eat what they like and not get fat and we only have to think about a chip and gain a pound?? |

Nope, I'm just the same, though more so with sugary things than chips. |

Well by this definition I'm not fat, so that means I must need glasses, as there is definitely room for improvement - hopefully the 90+ miles cycling and 24 miles rowing each week should gradually take care of that (by Christmas - Please) |

I still say we do know if we are fat. But you hit the nail on the head when you say we lie to ourselves. We do know. We just lie to ourselves. |
