I'm growing my hair at the moment and have come to the realisation that it could possibly be called a mullet at the moment if I don't style it and just wash and leave it.
So: do I get the longer bit at the nape chopped so it's like a bob even though that means it'll take longer to grow? Or do I grin and bear it and just make sure I style it before I go anywhere where I care what people think?

"Grin and bear it... it'll be worth it in the end!
I'm currently doing the same with my fanny. I could get a job in a 70's porno! "
I can now either clip up or put in a (teensy) bunch the mullety bit.
I guess the thing is that I spent years never having to style my hair, just wash it, run a brush through it and leave it. That was when it was long.
Now that it's short but growing I've never had to faff with it so much! |

I've grinned and beared it for about 2 years now. My hair was extremely short and has taken that long to get it the length it is now. I'm going to get something I'm not sure what done with it on wed |

It depends on what you want to do with it when it's longer..? If you get the back cut up a bit it will get rid of the mullet look , and be in more proportion with the sides, have it slightly layered and it will have a style..then just go and have a tiny trim on it to keep it looking healthy whilst growing it .. Mines the same. I had short uniform layers chopped in and I loved it til I realised it now takes ages to get out the door. Now its at the length it looks long at back and short at front and I cant even tie it back. I need something doing to it but no idea what.

Can you just put some mousse in it, ruffle it up and it will look tousled? Or tell a hairdresser the style you eventually want and they may be able to think of some in-between styles while it grows. |

Have you ever worn a wig for a whole day? No matter how well fitted it's not really comfortable and it's hot too. |

It's the faffing about styling it that's getting tiresome.
And if I don't faff I look like I come from the days that style forgot at the end of the 70's |

"Put a big clip in it for now and go and get it tidied so that as it grows it falls into a style.
I looked lovely the last time I saw you.
"
It's not quite long enough for clips, it's proper inbetweeny |
