Yes!

Gazza shares the same birthday as my son, 27 May.

My son died, and while my family and I were crying and our hearts breaking the nation was crying with a footballer over a game!

Yep, remember 1990 well!

The gazza crying thing is the lasting image from that world cup but what it does for me is to serve to remind me of all the years of failure of the England team since 1966. It seems that we reminisce over each tournament when we failed to win. Gazza and his tears, Waddle's missed penalty, Pearce's missed penalty, Southgate's missed penalty, Beckham's sending off it's all about failure. We remember individual games where we shone: Germany 5-1, Holland 4-1 and Owen's spectacular goal against Argentina, and as well as 1966 that's all we have. Germany, Brazil, Italy, and even Argentina, have multiple memories of winning the ultimate prize in football but all we have is those four matches and then abysmal and abject failure.

That's what Gazza's tears mean to me and I always turn over the TV whenever it comes on.
