"I need to keep an eye on this thread. I have terrible insomnia. Suffered for years."
Wear both your brain and your body out during the day.
As someone with experience in this, it really is that simple. |

Left field suggestion. I go on youtube and watch massage videos (clean ones before you giggle) specifically look for ASMR. I'm gone within minutes even when really insomnic.

If this fails, 30-50mg of temazepam do the trick. |

I do too. I have a few apps on my phone which I use. One for white/ pink noise or alpha waves and one which is a relaxation/ hypnosis talk. Exercise especially swimming helps me too. Physically exhausts me so much that I'm home, showered then bed by 11pm.
All these help but sometimes nothing works until I pass out around 4 or 5 am. Having one of those nights tonight. Xxx |

Another tactic is to picture yourself warm, cosy & safe....and then imagine long, heavy velvet curtains and 'draw' them around you effectively shutting the outside away emptying your mind at the some time.
actually it's quite hard to describe lol! |

We actually got taught a similar thing it junior school (fuck knows why). It was more based on tensing muscles for a set amount of time whilst lying still and then relaxing.
To be fair, it does(did) make you feel tired. |

Yes that works too.
start from your toes and work upwards, clenching and then relaxing, breathing deeply at the same time. |
