Is our National Football team really that bad, should we have got shot of Roy after the world cup and started afresh with a younger man to manage our younger fresher side.Just interested in people views, personally I do think we are a better side than the rankings suggest at 20,,but also feel we are way way off the pace to do anything in tournaments coming up |

I honestly don't see how you can possibly say that England should be ranked higher than 20 - what do you base that on?
But anyway, I think most people would have said Harry was the man for the job, - but he ain't no miracle worker!! |

Need to start picking players on their performances and not what club they play for. Why was milner in the squad when he doesn't play for his club. Id much rather see adam johnson playing or someone else who is playing for a lower premiership club but playing regularly. |

I am Scottish but please hear me out.
Years ago Graeme Souness brought a load of foreign players into Scottish football. Home grown talent did not get a chance and the national game suffered.
Scotland don't have the big Sky deals and it is on the bones of it's arse !!!
The positive sign is local talent is starting to emerge.
I think England still have very talented players and a great set up but while the larger teams are 90 % foreign players the young talent will struggle to break through.
I think the English FA have to look at ways of encouraging local players to be given a chance to emerge.
The bad bit is the clubs will resist this !!!! |

I think that England were ranked far too high over the last 5 or 6 years & that's why 20th looks so bad now.
When you realise that there were 8 groups of 4 at the world cup, & England finished 4th in their group, - that means they finished 24th at best!!
They've got some fantastic young attacking players now - but their defence is, well, probably about 30th in the world??????
England need a far better man-manager in my opinion. |

I think we need to look at were we ever really that good. We have talent but just not enough of the top end talent which is a shame. |

I think 20th place is a gud placing for the team regarding their atrocious effort in the world cup. The whole infrastructure of English football needs to be sorted out as they did in Germany, cut down on foreign imports & hav more home grown players & also reduce the sky high wages they demand. |

I think our biggest problem is that we don't play to our strengths.
Many foreign players say they don't like fast, high tempo games and are breathing out of their arses after half an hour.
No, we try and play tippy tappy passing football that they love and are much better at.
Also, most foreign teams are technically better than we are. They pass better and hold possession better.
No country needs to play a "ball winner" against us because we give it to them anyway.
The golden generation of Rio, Gerrard, Lampard, Becks, Scholes etc was as good as it's going to get for us.
We couldn't win with those guys so I don't hold much hope of us winning with these new guys.
No mate, altogether now let's sing "we're shit, and we know we are" |

Sadly whlie we have the FA and the old boys club running the show with managers that show no imagination other then to toe the party line England as a side will never be any different.
Not one club in the prem or any other top ranked international side play 4 4 2 other then the dinosaur that is Hodgson ....he nearly ruined Liverpool and is nw ruining England can you imagine Alf Ramsey or Venebles every saying Norway were always going to be hard to beat? I say get Hoddle back and groom Brendan Rodgers for the next manager |
