I don't know why somebody you have never met feels the need to use any endearment. I have a name so if they need to use something, use that. I think mostly its so they can scattergun a copy and paste message  |

I don't get it, why some women don't like terms of endearment.

I don't like babe. With lots of words like that - it very much depends who's using it . A work colleague calls me Sugar Tits - I'm ok with her doing it as we are good friends . Someone else at work doing it - I'd think wtf !  |

I use terms of endearment constantly with people I know and love.
Here, I have a name, use it. Failing that, craft a message that doesn't require it. Getting a 'hay babe, what u up2' from a twenty something is cringeworthy and when it comes from someone much older, I despair for them |

It seems my profile scares some people so I'm not inundated with messages but I still can't be arsed to tell them. Chances are, they'll take it as an opportunity to call me a fat slag or similar.

Funny enough I don't mind being called babe, but can't stand being called 'hun'...gggrrrrr. The first time an englishman called me mate I was so confused as it's quite a masculine 'term of endearment'...it was explained that I was a bud or pal or friend...oooooh ok and then simmered down |
