"Seems it's gonna soon be time to take the gloves off and go after these barbarians or would that be is falling into their neatly set trap ? "
It may well be falling into the trap. It's a bit of a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. And I'm personally wondering why the beheadings have started again. They were done in the region for a while but then seemed to just stop, only to start again now. |

Impossible to reason with religious extremists...horrific stuff 'in the name of their god' makes it's hard to find a solution.
The concern in the uk is the homegrown jihadists joining the cause...I fear for when they don't leave the uk to fight their fight! |

These idiots aren't real Muslims.
Religious texts are often written in the specific context of a very different world of hundreds of years ago. Most people understand this and simply look to underlying ethical guidance within them.
But some selectively quote passages out of context to justify clearly unacceptable behaviour. As the saying goes: the devil can quote scriptures for his purpose.

"If they are British take there family's into custody and make the same threats!!!! Or follow the same actions"
Yes. Let's recruit more extremism maybe then we can start claiming commission for the amount of people we'd push into what we're trying to prevent |

they do need stopping but it will have to be done militarily and it needs to be a global response led by other countries from that region..

Trouble is 'boots on the ground' is a no win situation. It almost fuels ISIS ideology and gives them exactly what they want, a war and a bigger reason and influence to recruit. America know this, which is why at the moment it seems like nothing is being done. The Iraq war is a perfect example and that's what ISIS stemmed from.

If you look at some of the rhetoric coming out there is no way to end things, at first glance. Lack ofresponse is something they will use to justify their cause. Military response is something that they will use to justify their cause and throw napalm on the fire. Diplomatic negotiation will lend credence to their claim of legitimate statehood, justify their cause, etc. Plus they don't actually want to negotiate so they will go nowhere fast. It's nearly the ultimate stalemate. |

there is another side to this story....
at the end of the latest video there is a picture of the next person they are threatening to kill in this manner.... and they are claiming he is british...
at the moment the family and the FCO (foreign office) have both asked newspapers not to name who he is.... it will be interested to see if someone "breaks cover" and names him.... |

There is mass genocide taking place on a daily basis and we are worried about two journalists. Yes it is sad and appalling but there is mass killing of innocent people who just happen to be either non Muslim, or the wrong kind of Muslim. These killings are going on their hundreds if not thousands every week across Syria and Iraq.
The last Holy Wars lasted nearly three hundred years and I suspect that these will last a very long time as well. For now, these Barbarians are largely content ethically cleansing parts of Syria and Iraq but that is only the beginning. Make no mistake that this is a Holy War in their own minds and the only possible outcome for them is a planet under the control of their kind of religious extremist.
Hitting these people hard now will only result on more hatred of "the west" and more 9/11 type attacks. Not hitting them hard now will enable their power and influence to grow in the region.
A day of reckoning will come sooner or later but who decides when and how? These are probably the most dangerous times in our lifetimes and we have to hope that the bad decision that will have to made sooner or later is just the best of all the bad decisions because in my opinion, the aftermath will haunt us for generations to come. |

Just a thought, but had we left Sadaam to get on with it maybe we wouldn't be in this mess. The vacuum that has been created by the over throwing of strong leaders in the region has led to a struggle for power amongst the various ethnic factions and a rise in extreme anti-western _iews. Part of me thinks we should stay well out of it but the whole region needs leadership and we should try and help, but at the moment we seem to have no strategy and no ideas. And all the while innocent people from all sides suffer. |

Fear is a great weapon to them.
Another problem is their funding, as a lot of cash is said to be coming from countries like Saudi Arabia. Also their weapons.. which we probably sold to the Saudis. |

"Islamic extremists do seem to be more aggressive in their tactics than they used to be, eg. North Nigeria, Syria, Iraq etc. I wonder why? "
Motivation, mostly. In the past the was more political motivation. Terror tactics were used to gain political favour, change an agenda, force negitiation, etc. Islamists are ideologically motivated more than politically. They quite often aren't interested in negotiation and often will profess to accept nothing less than complete defeat of their enemy. I'm oversimplifying more than a little but that's part of it, anyway |

Islamic State are going to continue their campaign in Syria and Iraq. They may well appear in other gulf states, maybe even attacking Iran, leading to a full scale war.
The worst scenario would be for IS to attack Turkey. With Turkey being a member of NATO, the west would have to intervene. IS would not survive as one unit, but terrorism in Europe and the USA would escalate.
They need to be stopped now, but by the Arab League, with or without the support of the west. There is no real alternative. |

The uk/usa create and fund and weaponise isis to fight against syria.
Now isis has suddenly changed direction, become too big and wild.
History repeating its self- you'd think the usa would have learned after creating al-qaida.
and now the usa is now looking to fill the kurds with weapons to fight isis....
And the circle goes on. Probably only stop when the oil runs out... |

some reports suggest that ISIS are making over 1 million per day from possesion of oil fields/oil sold on the black market. Plus the pots of money the Arab countries are gifting to them. The religion is a smoke screen. The terrorists are just henchmen, and at the bottom of the scale are the gullible converts, recruited to help do the dirty work! |

You can't. You can only bomb the area which of course means civilians will lose their lives. |

I suppose it's the same reason why we watch animal abuse programmes on tv, books about child abuse and horror films. People who watch this are not usually sitting there with a hard on. They watch it with horror. They watch it to know what happens. |
