Try putting a tin of beans in your garden. If it is warm to the touch, it is sunny, if it is damp then it is raining, if you can't see it, then it is foggy, if it is buried in snow... well you get the picture

I use UK Weather for Android as it pulls down Met office data. The BBC and Met Office Weather apps are just as good though and free.

Yep.

It's called 'stickyourheadoutofthewindow'.

It's a 'live' app only of course and only works in the immediate vicinity of the phone - but it's pretty much 100% accurate every time!

The weather here in Cumbria is often far to crappy - so if anybody finds an app which makes the weather decent, I'd really like to know. Thanks.

Did we decide on whether any of these apps are suitable for the weather?

Beeston

Is there any independent agency that verifies the quality of weather forecasts?

I haven't found any checker to show whether any forecaster is proven to be as accurate as it claims to be.

I use Rain Alarm Oso Pro, it's Norwegian and very good with a rain alarm etc.

I use an aggregate of the reports for the met office, the Beeb (who reinterpret the met office data) and Netweather, which is run mainly by enthusiastic amateurs using multiple sources and is surprisingly accurate up to 14 days in advance

For sailing I use Meteo consult & wave finder, for everything else I use Met office app.

It depends what you want it for.
