Not since their BMW's VANOS system let them down and their rear subframes cracked. They all switched to Audi. |

Totally agree. I actually started thinking that driving standards in general are getting worse, but I suppose the logical conclusion is that car usage as increased over the years. I have noticed some young female drivers acting aggressively, in recent times. That is a new development. |

We always associate the crap diving with the make and model of the car.
Everytime I see an Audi, I always remember the gridlock along the lane down to Lizard Point in Cornwall, when an Audi wanted to leave at least 4 feet between him and the hedge, expecting me and another car to reverse back a mile, because he didn't want to get too close to the hedge. Never mind scratching my car trying to give him the room. What a ****! |

Ah, you've assumed I'm one of the typical cyclists, ok, let me paint the picture, I'm cycling down a very busy A road, I'm about 2 foot from the kerb, there is a road on the left, no cars are waiting to pull out so I keep my speed, I get within 5 feet of the road and an Audi a3 abruptly over takes me and turns into this road, I really can't see where I'm at fault but if you can, could you let me know so I don't do it again. |

Playing devils advocate here, but you would say that it wasn't your fault, but I bet your health Insurance company are breathing a sigh of relief as I type. Glad there was no accident or injuries though. |

It's bloody scarey when cars do that! It is a patience, or lack of it thing. My friend crashed the other day when a van got far too close to her. He just buggered off, not realising (I hope) what he had done. I had to go fetch her and the bike, she was bruised and her bike damaged.
Personally, I think a car retest every few years would be a good idea. We all pick up bad habits, they are hard to unlearn though. |

I have seen quite a few videos on youtube under the heading typical audi driver, it just be they are in the headlines at the moment.
I would agree with someone else that it does seem driving standards are slipping, but then could it be due to us all want to get some where in a hurry.

though, to be fair, its people at fault. whatever they drive or ride. always someone trying to cut corners (not just in the driving sense) and not giving a toss about the rules of the road |

"There are a lot of shite drivers. The vehicle they are in makes no odds for me. They wouldn't be a better driver in a better car. "
It seems to me that a good driver is a good driver whatever the make of car. But some cars have an image that acts as a magnet to bozos.
For me an Audi ranks equal for needless aggression with a Corsa |

Of course you're absolutely right.
But....
Those bad drivers choose what they drive and so you can kinda see why comments about drivers of certain cars get made.
Personally, I took the IAM Advanced Driving test 18 years ago because I wanted to be a better, safer driver.
It all really comes down to the attitude of the individual driver. |

I must be the exception then, have owned an A4 for 8 yrs and not had an accident or carved up any cyclists..
then again as an ex cyclist commuting through south London maybe that has something to do with it..?
oh but then again been accident free for err 12 yrs since a none Audi or German car ran up my arse end in traffic so its all confusing..
should I aim to have a minor biff tomorrow to fit the generalisations..? |

You have been moaning about drivers Audi ones in particular for years and there seems to be one common issue with this near accidents and its YOU! Maybe its not all the dozens of drivers but you don't take notice of other road users. |

Not had a single accident in the 15 years I've been driving . |

As a cyclist ive certainly encountered the impatient clown in the Audi, but then again the pillock that knocked me off last week was driving a ratty old Astra van - he reversed into me at the traffic lights! |

...it wasn't my sons fault when a chauffeur driven vehicle with completely blacked out windows took an illegal right turn straight into his path. The physical and emotional damage it's done to him is permanent. |

Unfortunately, far too many cyclists are complete pillocks with a total disregard for road safety and the highway code. The trouble is that they are the ones who are remembered and give the rest of us (who are well manored and actually follow the rules of the road) both bad name and shit load of grief.
When driving, in my half-a-car, I tend to give cyclists the benifit of the doubt and give them as much room.as I would another vehicle. That is until they run a red light, after which I treat them with the same respect I recieve when cycling - none!
At the end of the day we all use the roads, we all want to get somewhere, so whats wrong with chilling out, respecting the rules and each other regardless of our chosen mode of transport. |

I own a Audi . Like to think I'm a good driver ( not saying the best as everyone does make mistakes ) , but ......... I've had 2 bumps that were my fault ( my first escort ) 2 bumps that weren't ( both vw golf ) . No bumps in the Audi or others beforehand . I worked hard to by the car I wanted . So because I work hard , wanted a sporty looking car , that makes me ( as clarkson said on top gear ) a ' cock ' or ' bad driver ' ?
I see some terrible stereotyping going on here . |

You find some like to stereotype here also some are jealous here and some like to stereotype because they are jealous. Anyone with half a brain knows its the driver not the car at issue if the driving is bad. |

On my local twitter feed here in Telford we we have #crapcarparking game. People take pics of dire parking and up load them. It seems 99% of all the worst parking just happens to the owners of Audi and BMW.
So it's not just on the open roads where the selfish antics go on.

insurance - not legally required but often carried.
Road tax - no such thing.
License - not legally required as pedestrians/equestrians/cyclists all have Statutory Right to the public highway, unlike drivers who are merely licensed.

Higher spec Audi's are usually driven by higher tier management or "professionals" all have a high opinion of themselves and their own importance and they have the firm belief that their journey is more important than anyone else's.
My car, skoda yeti, durable, comfortable and non threatening. My bike, bmw gs, big and intimidating, mess with it and I will ride right over your tin box and park it on your head. |
