Bloody hate it. The aisles are too narrow so no-one can get past others, people just chuck stuff on the floor, and the clothes are usually ugly. I think I've bought about three things from there. |

"It's the place to be however it is getting expensive!!!! Jumpers now cost 10.00!!!!"
Because they have to raise the wages of those that work in the sweat shops...no one should work in slavery any longer hence prices will go up...cost of running stores, cost of staff cost of bonuses etc...still cheaper than Armani |

I like selecting clothes from a rail not from the floor.
I'd sooner buy clothes from Sainsburys... but not Tesco as their stuff looks like tat too. |

When I was a teacher I got my suits from Primark. I think it was £20 the jacket and £5 the trousers, so I bought a few pairs. Whole lot machine washable, when it rained it ran off, warm when going playground duty ... And surprisingly it looked as smart as my Pierre Cardin suits ... And if it got dissolved in chemistry or set fire to in physics or ripped I had no concern, another £25 and I'd have a new suit.
Check them out, they are suite amazing ... Btw trainee teachers get sod all to live on!! |

I can't shop in big shops like Primark. I went in there to get my granddaughter a pair of black stretchy shirts to go under a short dress. I felt like crying after 10 minutes of searching through shelves and shelves of shorts. A woman came to my aid and found the last pair on a bottom shelf. I really hate shopping |

For all those spounting about slave labour from their high horses - most things that are made in countries such as China are made from slave labour. Yep, even that iPad you are posting from.

All highstreet clothing retailers use the same agency for fashion trends. Primark has the added advantage of 'fast fashion' where they can turn around a product in a matter of weeks if they see something they like in another store.
I know more about the industry than I'd care to but some of it is quite interesting. |

Their clothes always seem too tight across the boobs and if I go a size up they fit my boobs but are then baggy around the waist so I don't own any Primark. Shame because I saw the perfect black shirt dress with white collar and cuffs; just above the knee and everything in there last week. Alas, it was not to be. |

One of these days I hope comments like that are treated with the same regard as ones which advocate rape or pedophilia. It might all be abstract to you lot of cheap clothing freaks, but somewhere else on the planet these are real people's lives and yes... real kids and real whips
My apologies but I don't really have a lot of humour about this issue. If we all did a little bit it would send a message to these manufacturers that we want change by hitting them where it hurts i.e. their profits. But the sad truth is that the British consumer values money savings over ethics and therefore continues to fund repressive regimes and keep slavery a reality. Has it ever struck any of you lot that this very issue might be some of the reason why some people around the world hate us so much? |

Many items from high street clothes shops are made in the same factories and just have their own brand label attached.
Primary are one of the few shops with an ethical work policy, I believe it's online somewhere.

Nothing wrong with that. Im a very thrifty shopper. If there is a bargin to be had im there. My daughter teams high designer wear with high street stuff. You would be suprised how many celebs shop in places like these. Iv often gone into the primark on oxford street and believe it or not oftern seen a celeb or two in there shopping for bargains. |

Please pull your head out the sand and do a little research before spouting utter tripe,
There shall be no recruitment of child labour.
5.2 Companies shall develop or participate in and contribute to policies and programmes
which provide for the transition of any child found to be performing child labour to enable her or him to attend and remain in quality education until no longer a child; "child" and "child labour" being defined in the appendices.
5.3 Children and young persons under 18 shall not be employed at night or in hazardous conditions.
5.4 These policies and procedures shall conform to the provisions of the relevant ILO standards.
6. LIVING WAGES ARE PAID
6.1 Wages and benefits paid for a standard working week meet, at a minimum, national legal standards or industry benchmark standards, whichever is higher. In any event wages should always be enough to meet basic needs and to provide some discretionary income.
6.2 All workers shall be provided with written and understandable Information about their employment conditions in respect to wages before they enter employment and about the particulars of their wages for the pay period concerned each time that they are paid.
6.3 Deductions from wages as a disciplinary measure shall not be permitted nor shall any deductions from wages not provided for by national law be permitted without the _xpress permission of the worker concerned. All disciplinary measures should be recorded.
7. WORKING HOURS ARE NOT EXCESSIVE
7.1 Working hours comply with national laws and benchmark industry standards, whichever affords greater protection.
7.2 Workers shall not be required to work in excess of 48 hours per week and shall be provided with at least one day off for every 7 days period on average.

So you say you won't shop in primark because of its slave labour ?
You say every step counts so surely by buying from a stor with a good ethics policy would help not hinder ? |

I'm glad to say I don't shop there, luckily they haven't entered the Italian market. However, the 'fast fashion' trend, with shops like Zara and H&M May pave the way.
I must admit though, when I was in Birmingham I went in to people watch, it was like being at West Midland's Safari park, I even saw someone stealing...from Primark, c'mon! |

I am up and down Oxford street all day long and there is always a police van outside the marble arch branch. I've seen more people being led out of this shop cuffed than any other shop in the west end. |

I can imagine! If you're going to risk getting caught, surely it's better for something a little nicer. I'm thinking a Brioni suit... criminals nowadays with no taste |

My favourite best fitting jeans are from Primark. It is great for kids clothes although they tend to shrink in the wash. I dont go in often its hard to get round with a pushchair.
My local one is best to go in first thing before it looks like a jumble sale |

"We never knowingly buy the products of slave labour... so no... a primark free house here "
Where do you think every other clothing retailer has their goods made?

It is. Really. But I spoke too soon. It's just been announced in the Huffington Post that they are due to open in Milan and Rome. What's the world coming too! |

Over the rainbow, under the bridge |
"I buy from all different place, asda, tesco, store twenty one, primark, new look (sale rail) and matalan. unfortunately I don't have the income to be fussy about where I shop. the stuff I get lasts and that's all that matter. I also go to charity shops for some of mine and my daughters stuff just as good and really cheap plus giving to charity x
Yeah me too, we aren't all snobs on here. "
Had some great deals from charity shops. My daughter swears by them. |

"It provides cheep clothes that are made by people under dubious conditions but in the UK we benefit. I have bought from there though in the past."
& the same goes for designer labels, they pay peanuts to the sweatshop workers but make a phenomenal profit here!! |

"i love primark, they have better fashion sense in most other places like new look, river island, top shop etc! But they never have my size in bra's -.-
I'll be your personal shopper ill get you the right fit within 5 mins
lmfao!! yeah then tell the shop assistants to find my size! lol
Try 10 in the same size you might find one that fits lol
haha! I've been told I'm a 36DD, tried 3 on in peacocks, too small, looked at the 36E bra's in primark, looked fooking huge!! so dunno where the fook to begin! might just go get myself measured again -.-
If you go up in the back you need to go down in the cup to get the fit.
Thank you! Off to m&s tomorrow to get measured again haha!"
Got measured today, I'm a 32 G |

I just wanted to say, in case some people got the wrong end of the stick, that my wife and I currently shop for clothes mainly in charity shops. If we can't find anything funky enough, we alter things to add something quirky to them. So we're not being snooty in our views of Primark... it is just an issue of personal ethics
Thanks to the people who alerted me to Primark's ethical policy. However, our problems with cheap commodities run deeper than a specific company or it's policy. If you find yourself looking at a product and wondering how the heck they managed to make it so cheaply... the answer will almost invariably be slavery of some form or another.... even if it's just economic slavery.
Of course it is impossible to live in the West and not buy products that are only affordable to us because of the inequalities of wealth and poverty that are carefully manufactured and manipulated by the West and it's big businesses. But it is possible to try, every now and then. Whether it's boycotting Apartheid regimes or making sure you buy 'fair trade' and spend that little extra.
In general if it's new and it looks too cheap to be true... don't buy it... it's probably got blood on it
As you might guess... we don't shop at Poundland either lol |
