I kid you not I'm still seething from 8 am this morning. A fooking asain women driver wearing a huge blanket around her head pulled right out in front of me, she should of give way so I slammed on in absolute disbelief she has now stalled in the cross road takes her 3 times to start cad and carry on and not a fooking hand gesture apology or jack shit.

IT'S NOT SAFE TO WEAR THINGS THAT RESTRICT YOUR VISION LIKE A BUKRA WHILST DRIVING.

I SO MAD LOL Need to let it go... and breathe. .. how she didn't see me coming down is beyond me it would of been a right crash hadn't I have slammed on. Argh!!!

You get bad drivers wherever you go, doesn't give you a right to classify what someone can and can't wear.

Calm down and get off your phone if you're driving lol x

As above, we have no idea what it actually was, or why she was wearing it.

Some headgear is worn for religious reasons or because of tradition. Referring to such items across the board as "blankets" certainly is racist and definitely not respectful as the OP is claiming to be.

That wasn't necessarily down to her headwear.

People with perfect vision and no headgear of any type sometimes have accidents because they don't look or don't see things.

I've had people pull out in front of me. They made a mistake. It didn't mean they couldn't see me, they just didn't look or didn't process that I was there.

We don't even know it was a burka, nor why she was wearing it.

So on that theory why did you call him disrespectful for calling it a blanket t may have actual been one?

If you think that is actually likely then that is up to you.

He used the term blanket to be derogatory.

No you assume that you do not know what his intention was as you don't know that the driver of the other car was wearing but that isn't stopping you putting him down for reasons unstated by you.

He's making his intentions and his attitude very clear.

I would disagree with that and would ask why you are being venomous towards him as its not evident no this thread the guy is having a rant fine he was shook up if people were so venomous on your rants you would get defensive. Stop making assumptions to his intent its not needed. "

Blanket is quite clearly offensive and derogatory.

He's gone totally over the top. Calling for the burka to be banned? As others have pointed out, a burka wouldn't have restricted the woman's vision.

Maybe she was in a rush and had something on her mind.

Perhaps that's why she pulled out in front of traffic and then repeatedly stalled her car.

Blanket isn't an offensive term so please leave your high horse. As for restriction of vision if it was a burka it will impair vision as does a full face helmet in a car so please do not insult peoples intelligence anything partially covering the face restricts peripheral vision. So no one ever pulls out on someone else when they are not wearing a burka? No.accidents have ever been caused or narrowly avoided through sheer incompetence or momentary lapses in concentration? I need a ban on bus drivers. A huge double-decker pulled out on me at a junction today. I had to apply my brakes and stop even though I had the right of way.

I would ban okra, given the chance. I just don't like it.

so as 26% of collisions involve someone between the ages of 17-24 we can ban them too. Old people. A elderly gentleman had a heart attack at the wheel of his car in my local town two months ago, drove straight through a car salesman's showroom window after mounting the kerb and narrowly avoiding pedestrians.

Now all we need is a burka wearing teenager with a heart condition For true carnage.....

She was a bad driver, didn't look, maybe the kids had been driving her mad all morning. We have ALL got in a car stressed and tired and made mistakes; but let's blame an item of clothing and do the old tongue in cheek racism threads, it's just a bit of fun right?

In those cases the right to dress how you like is balanced by the risk of criminal activities, with in the case of the Burka, etc, no religious or cultural weigh to push it

"IT'S NOT SAFE TO WEAR THINGS THAT RESTRICT YOUR VISION LIKE A BUKRA WHILST DRIVING."

I would agree on this point, but does the Burka severely restrict vision? I'm not sure. Provided the eyes are completely uncovered I would argue that they probably afford more all round visibility than a Motorcycle helmet.

"The burka doesnt block peripheral vision just so you know. She was just a bad driver lol."

Very valid. I am frequently appalled by the standard of some peoples driving in this country. I think it's about time Motorway driving was included in the Standard 'L' test - Especially as many of our towns now have Dual Carriageway bypasses, yet nobody seems to know how to use them. Many people don't seem to realise that when joining a dual carriageway / motorway, you are required to match your speed to that of traffic on the main carriageway, not cause them to take action to avoid you.

I could go on.....

"You get bad drivers wherever you go, doesn't give you a right to classify what someone can and can't wear."

Yep, and the last time I checked, we still lived in a free country

If the woman, if in fact she was a woman, was wearing a "blanket", how does the OP know she's "Asian"? That assumption in itself speaks volumes.

Rag isn't an offensive term but it is when it's used to describe turban wearers as ragheads

Blanket isn't an offensive term unless it's used with that intention. Like here.

Does anyone think it likely she was actually wearing a blanket? The OP didn't because he was quite clear he believed it to be a "bukra"

He meant to be insulting and derogatory and everyone here knows that, even those pretending otherwise as a basis to snipe and argue.

Stating she's Asian shows the OP's view of race and his comments about "blankets" clearly shows his "respect" for religious tolerance and ethnic traditions and customs.

This is just another "them and us" rant about other religions and cultures.

It's pathetic.

"I need a ban on bus drivers. A huge double-decker pulled out on me at a junction today. I had to apply my brakes and stop even though I had the right of way.

I decided the bus would win in a fight though so I didn't bother to wag my finger or toot my horn.

I would ban okra, given the chance. I just don't like it.

Okra is proper slimy. I don't like that feeling. Gives me goosebumps and raises the hair on my body.

It shouldn't be slimy if it's been cooked correctly. My ex sister in law cooks it with lamb. Lovely. "

"If the woman, if in fact she was a woman, was wearing a "blanket", how does the OP know she's "Asian"?

And let's not beat about the bush. Private hire cabs cause more accidents and then try to fuck you with a fake injury to save their job.

Now, cab drivers in Burkhas, that would fuck with your minds lol

"How about we ban motorcycle helmets too. They block more peripheral vision then a burka does."

Yeh but you need to take a bike helmet off in petrol stations and banks.

Say no more.

In those cases the right to dress how you like is balanced by the risk of criminal activities, with in the case of the Burka, etc, no religious or cultural weight to push it

She's Kurdish so cooks it as a traditional Kurdish dish (try saying that when you're pissed!). It's done with lamb in a tomato sauce.

It seems that nobody on here actually knows what a burka actually is. Google images show that many types of burka do restrict peripheral, and forward vision. Even a niqab, which is more common, is worn with a headscarf that is loose at the sides, which would have the same effect.

LOL these forum posts about Asians are quite funny!.

Dude, forget her ethnicity or what she was wearing, in the end it just comes down to bad driving.

Whether she was wearing a burkha, a motorcycle helmet, a scream mask, a pirates eye patch.... it still comes down to driving skill and nothing else!!

And if this sort of thing gets you sooo angry think an anger management/road rage course may help you out
