That's because over 90% of communication is non verbal .
I would guess 98 % of attraction is non verbal
Smell, body language, clothing stance etc all make a major contribution to attraction . Very little is done by the written word, especially the typed word
Write a decent profile, and send a decent message ,

It is harder to stand out on line.
The visual filter is less powerful and involves clicking through loads of pics which is time consuming.
In a bar, you can quickly cast your eyes around and pick out who you would like to be turned down by 
You do talk to more people online though and make some unlikely friendships  |
