I sometimes send them as a means of testing the water, and trying to see if there might be an attraction. After all, I've been here a long time, and know that a fair few people on here travel with work, so it's worth it now and then just askig if there might be a chance you could meet somewhere nearer. |

Not keen on those types of messages because it seems like they are trying to get you to change your preferences, whether it be shame you're not nearer /shame about your age limit /shame you can't accommodate. My usual reply to such messages is along the lines of 'well it is what it is, I'm sure you can find someone nearer/with different age limit /who can accom'.

Maybe they're hoping for a positive response and would then say they can travel to you, or suggest meeting half way between.
If I want to meet someone enough, and I know they are interested in me, distance (within the UK), is not a problem. It may mean the meet takes longer to happen, but as long as I'm sure they're honestly keen, I can make it happen.
There are a few people on here I'd be willing to travel a few hundred miles to meet, (if they wanted to meet me). |

They are pretty tedious after a while, although can be flattering. I'm happy to chat with people in the back of beyond or London, but it's when they drop hints about travelling to them that I get a bit irritated. Although there are a couple of people who I'd love to see who do live miles away  |
