"Bluebird toffee
were pacers mints?!!?"
Pacers were like lightly minted Opal Fruits (or Starburst as they're called today - will always be Opal Fruits to me though!) so I guess the answer is 'yeah, kind of' |

Can't remember the name, but they were sour balls (Oooer) that came in packs of 3.
Eye poppers?
Me and my mates used to see how many we could do in one go.
My mouth's tingling at the thought.
Hubba Bubba
Those gimmicky ones that were like a metre of bubblegum |

"army and navy
aniseed twists
black jacks
milk chews
sherbet pips"
Bought a quarter (sorry, 100g!) of sherbet pips from a traditional sweet shop in Cornwall a couple of months back. Not had them for YEARS previously. Proper nostalgia |

"Quarters of cola cubes, pineapple cubes and rhubarb and custards.
Toffos
Wham bars
Choc dips
Fry's chocolate bars - I haven't seen an orange one in an aeon and they were my favourites"
I was in a Cadbury shop the other week. They had the Frys chocolate bars in there. Including the Orange one. I used to love the fruit one myself. Each chunk was a different flavor. Haven't seen that in absolute years |

Most of the pic n mix Woolworths used to sell
Mojos and I felt cheated when half pennies were abolished, so the deal was halved
Beer bottles
Strawberries and Cream (Bond's)
Rhubarb and Custard (Bond's)
Jawbreakers (when they were big)
Sherbet. The one with the licquorice stick in but I always threw or gave that away
Rola Cola. Those silver, really hard balls
Sherbet pips
Strawberry Laces. The huge ones that were 10p
Cola bottles. Fizzy and non fizzy
Bonbons - lemon and strawberry ones (Bond's)
I'm sure I'll think of more later

"Long gone are the days when you went to the shop with 20p worth of penny mixed sweets. God you need a £1 now as most sweets are 5p. "
Yeah I used to love going to the shop with my £1 note, coming back with a vast array of sweets AND change! |

"...... and something called glees (nearest thing to them now are skittles but not quite the same) "
I remember 'Glees' really well (a purple coloured packet with a clear window on the front) and would beg to differ .... they were exactly like 'Skittles', just without the "S" printed on them!
In a similar fashion, 'M&M's' are just an updated version of chocolate and peanut 'Treets'! |
