After a while of being on the forums you start to notice that a few people never have anything positive to say. Lately I've noticed a few that seem prone to writing comments that are almost always darkly cynical or just deeply negative. I'm sure some people have got their opinions on me and the drivel I write lol  So please... let's not make this personal  Also I haven't written this thread with anyone in mind so please don't get paranoid that I'm talking about you.
I just wanted to write this thread to say... if you've only been saying negative stuff or darkly cynical stuff lately... why not try changing things up and seeking out a thread you can be helpful or positive on.  
Not trying to rock any boats... just trying to act as a reminder that a life lived positively is a life worth living
p.s. if you refuse to be positive I will have you lined up and shot  |

If it was lovely and rosey all the time it would get a tad boring, not everyone can agree to disagree! But that's just called a difference of opinion, I don't like to see personal attacks in the forums they are uncalled for, but it happens. |

I've gotta admit I agree with this too. I didn't feel like writing one of those "lets all be positive" threads precisely for that reason. I just thought that if you're someone who's only been posting negative stuff for a while it might be time for a change |

No matter what forum you go on there will ALWAYS be a certain number of keyboard warriors whose soul purpose in being there is to try to put others down or piss on everybody elses bonfire in some vain attempt to big themselves up. They are the same people who wont say boo to a goose in the real world. Eventually you just learn to ignore their comments and move onto the next one because they aint worth the time it takes to read their posts |

I just think it's nice to be nice. I don't come here for abuse or for people to be mean to me. I go to work for that! 
I'm happy to give as good as I get in terms of banter, it's not easy to tell tone when reading text cause you're missing _xpressions and body language but you can be sure that I'm never intentionally mean but I am painfully honest and maybe sarcastic at times but it's never with malice. Life is simply too short.
If I think you're an arsehole, I generally just ignore you.

I think the forum goes through highs and lows just like life. Ive noticed that one day it can be buzzing with life and positivity and the following day it's in the doldrums. Other days it just balances itself out.
I'm almost never negative on here as I have a positive outlook on life but appreciate the dark side of human nature. There's no use fighting it as if it isn't part of all of us. Better to embrace it and see if there's an opportunity to transform a negative into something more positive.
Failing that just resort to childish or toilet humour At least that's what I do...probably too frequently |

There is an issue with text, as one person can write a post in a joking way, but many readers can read it as being nasty or sarcastic.
You can write negative comments, but do they have to be personal negative comments though. |

Agree.
If everything was sickly sweet all the time it would be boring. Differences of opinion are good. We need the the negative whining people as much as the sweetie ones, for balance. |

I was just moaning about people who moan on here... and pointing the finger at people who point their fingers at people... and being negative about all those negative people who post negative comments about people. As for all those darkly cynical people? Myself? I'm darkly cynical about them.

There was a thread bumped fairly recently that was several years old. Most of the posters were UNLOS or not ones I recognise as current forumites and it was a horrible read.
I must admit I think that the mods do a ffantastic job with keeping the heated thread's from turning into abusive ones |

There are people on here that just want to slag profiles off or start arguments. The question is how many members is that scaring away from the forums . My guess is an awful lot . We think more could be done to clamp down on people who respond to OPs in an agressive , cyniical or un neccesarily critical manner . |

probs why i don't post as much these days,, i've been around a while and spot things and yeah i o think negatively,, i really don't buy this happy happy lets be positive all the time crap.. it just aint my cup of tea.
i do have self control (hense lack of posting) but sometimes i will voice an opinion thats not in tune with others.. why should i have to fence sit. I also believe it depends on how things are written.. doesnt have to be aggressive

i dont think the forum should change and people shouldnt change. If people want to post negativity, and they themselves probably dont see it like that, then all well and good.
I have been posting on the forum for about 3 years, others on this forum have been posting for way longer. It was popular then and it remains so today. So obviously sonething is right isnt it.
I personally enjoy the diversity of people and we do need the balance to keep it as successful as its been in the past. |
