It offers promise, hope and in essence gives direction.. Roads into the unknown offer potential, opportunity and connections, they present both choice and requirement; change direction, go forward, go back, or leave the road and wander. You may rest a while at the crossroads but at some point, you must strike out, say yes or no or even, maybe |

I literally do not experience peace anymore. I remember what it is, but sometimes I keep busy just to stay on my feet through the depression periods and most often I just keep working away because it's better than stopping to realise that I actually have nothing to stop for.
One day it will all be worth something. One day it will begin to pay off, because I like what I do and I never stop working to be better at it. |

"all roads lead to somewhere eventualy, maybe you cant see it yet but look back in a few years and you will realise it was all for a purpose x"
Unless it's a road going round a roundabout.
With no exits !

Who here has ever gone running to keep fit? I can't anymore but I always used to go at night so that I didn't have to concentrate on how far away the end of a road was. That way I could get lost in my thoughts and get into the mindset of completing what I set out to do.
I think that speaks a lot for building roads too. It's often around the midway that we doubt what we're doing, even if we have a clear cut plan.
When it finally leads to something, you forget all the unpleasant doubt. So just know that you're halfway there and the rest can become mind over matter! |

Thank you for that contribution, and the rest of you for all the others.
I do think sometimes at the mid point it feels like the road will never get finished and if it does the destination will have changed and it's pointing in the wrong direction.

"Don't they all lead to Rome?
If so, can someone bring me back a stick of rock "
How about a stick and some rocks?
Just took the dog out down the road and there were loads of both - just laying around, unwanted and abandoned!

Mine doesn't, I live in a cul-de-sac
But does it have any sticks of rock? "
Unfortunately not, just double yellow lines and a pair of traffic lights ![](/icons/s/confused.gif) |

Losing the thoughts might help! Don't get lost IN them. |

I know that feeling. I've been torn in different directions for much of my life. But whereas we cant have it all at once, you still cant have junctions without that one road.
Patience is the hardest virtue today. Some people seem to be able to snap their fingers and have shit done for them. But there's no victory in that.
Even if I only have one victory in life, I will feel achieved. If I dont even get one and I learn I'm dying next week, my achievement is that I met it on my feet! |

Now I find there is a difference between thinking on your feet and on your arse lol on your feet, getting lost in thought is more meditative. On your arse, it's daydreaming. That's for me, I dont assume for others![](/icons/s/wink.gif) |

Meditative is thoughtless! Nothing wrong with daydreaming; especially if you've got a nice arse ![](/icons/s/razz.gif) |

Meditative is not thoughtless in my experience. Meditative is only truly meditative when it is progressive. In that sense, thinking on your feet not only makes time less relative, it literally gets you to where you're going.
As a creative I do a lot of daydreaming on my beautiful arse lol applying what I gain from that to the place I go in my mind when I'm proactively challenging myself allows me to challenge my ideas, my faith in them and my doubts. |
