So as a single guy living alone, I like to cook my own meals and freeze portions (no processed crap here). I generally do the same sort of things like Shepherds Pie, Curries, Chilli Con Carne, Spag Bol etc.
I want to try something different and am thinking a Moussaka might be the order of the day.
What dish do you like that you have never cooked before |

I do soups. Chicken (which is more like a broth), cream of tomato, broccoli and Stilton, and wild mushroom. They freeze well and are great in the winter with good crusty bread. |

I recently made Somerset chicken for the first time. It was lovely. You could make the sauce and freeze portions then pour over grilled chicken or substitute the chicken for pork |

I have done soups & Sunday roasts, but what would you like to cook that you haven't done before? |

Goulash is a good one, nice n spicy, flavoursome.
There's a great recipe called a Cassoulet, we use the Hairy Bikers version and freeze vast amounts of it. Soooooo yummy. |

Nothing! Lol I'm a reluctant cook. That's why I do soups, curries, chilli, spag bol, etc. |

"I want to try a tagine. I'm looking at recipes trying to find an authentic one that hasn't been messed about with by chefs "
Went to an excellent Moroccan restaurant while in southern Spain a couple of years ago. Would love to try cooking it myself |

it's supposed to be inexpensive because you can use cheaper cuts of meat but if you don't have the spices and dried fruit in your cupboards it doesn't work out any cheaper. There are a lot of ingredients |

A guy in another flat has loads of spices, so we just borrow each others as and when we need them. I watched a program about Moroccan cuisine not long ago and will definitely be having a go.
Anyway, off to go get my ingredients now + a bottle of Merlot |

I'd like to try that too. I tried them in Morocco and I'm only sorry I didn't bring some of the little pots back with me. Delish!

They were amazing... there's another traditional dish, it's like a little chicken pie made from puff pastry with spices - when I remember what they're called I'll come back to you - melted in your mouth... I might go hunt down a Moroccan cook book. I want to go back! |

Ohhhh is that the one filled with rice and chicken and sultanas with cinnamon and icing sugar sprinkled on top? They're beautiful!
I would like to make sushi. 2wheels isn't keen and it seems a bit pointless making it for one

Spanish chicken is a good alternative to add to the saucy dishes. You could also slow cook some beef, lamb or venison in gravy to add to a pie pastry after defrosting.
One of my favourites is a good tikka or vindaloo sauce. Most of the work is just frying onions, garlic and spices, blending it with canned toms and then adding cream or yoghurt and coriander. |
