Condensers are good. I wouldn't worry about brand but instead look at the energy rating as they cost a lot to run
We had a creda for years and gave it some right hammer, easy to repair and maintain |

The one I am considering has a B rating, which is good for a dryer of any sort.

I was told a condenser dryer relies on contrasting external temperature to condense and work most effectively, ie, outside in a garage. For indoors, he recommended vented. |

Thanks. It will only be two loads a week.

Only use ours in the winter time when it won't line dry |

I have an indesit washer/condenser dryer combi. Brilliant kit. Never had any trouble and it never needs emptying as it drains into the same pipe as washer.....chuffing brill! IWDD7143.

It may be a daft reason but I have two holes so I'm separating the functions.

I have a condenser and its great. First condenser I have had and its a zanussi 7kg time control dryer. Super easy to empty the water and fluff filters are easy to get too. I think it was about £150 ish from appliancesonline. |

"I also helped design the indesit washer dryer , its Indisit , Ariston and Hotpoint all the same company "
I've chosen a Hotpoint washing machine and an Indesit dryer.
I did like the Bosch set but they are more expensive what appears to be not a lot more.

I've always had a condenser drier as I've never had a space near a window or external wall for a vent. I've never had any problem with them and would recommend one.
Incidentally, someone told me you can use the condensed water to put in your steam iron as it doesn't fur it up like tap water. |

Will I still have to iron?
I have a big heavy dry iron. I don't know what I will do when it dies as they don't seem to be available to buy anymore.

In the winter my radiators are covered in clothes drying, thus preventing the radiating of heat to my home.

You will need to do it even more whilst getting used to a steam iron. Worry not as you can do mine , and no don't worry no need to thank me

Got the bosch 8kg one from AO a few months ago, is really well built, very quiet and best of all tells you how long is left, as it adjusts time depending on load....lots of people on the web complained about the Hotpoint taking a long time.. |

Now I am torn. I did like the Bosch, even if they use too many xs on the names.

Hi to throw a spanner into the works, instead of a condenser tumble dryer, have you thought of getting a dehumidifier instead? For just two loads a week, it may work out cheaper to buy and run and keep the damp down in your flat.
I use mine near an airier with the door closed and clothes dry in a few hours and take the moisture out of the air.
Just a thought .. |

Unless you have your windows open, you will be creating a damp atmosphere as the moisture has to go somewhere |

I have a condenser and had it for 12 years from the in laws who had it for about 5. Never had a single problem and still runs well plus for an olden doesn't use as much energy as I would have thought.
Like innocence undone mine is a zanussi |

Thank you all. I ended up with a Zanussi.
I have used it three times now (I had a backlog of washing) and it's great. I am no longer festooned in drying laundry and the sheets I took off the bed just went straight back on. Best of all, so far no ironing has resulted from the washing.

7kg wash/5kg drying" Either washer/driers have improved dramatically, or you are easily pleased. Never known anyone to say they liked them. General opinion being that they are very inefficient, as they take an age to complete the process. |

Had vented and condenser over the years, have to say condensers are very good. Our Zanussi lasted for years and only went to a new home when we had the kitchen fitted (it is still going strong with it's new owner).
Now have a Bosch with a condenser and heat pump, even better and far cheaper to run per load. |

My recent experiences of buying non-cheap have been exactly the same, unfortunately, - at least as far as whiteware is concerned! |

"On the plus side I found a condenser doesn't dry the clothes to a crisp either like my old vented one used to "
It did dry the sheets to a crisp. They were a bit hot to handle. Maybe I need to do them for a shorter time than the guide suggests.
The mixed materials clothing didn't dry to a crisp and didn't need ironing.

No, they always last longer than the warranty, - otherwise the manufacturers would be going bust pretty quick. Whiteware normally only carries only a 1 year warranty, from memory. |
