Originally from Warrington, I moved down South to Portsmiuth over 4 years ago to do my Masters degree, then I found work down here. Things are good, but there are times when it really hits home that I am 250 miles from my family. It gets me down at times, but the job is non transferable and really quite good, an do have some great friends down here - I doubt I will ever move back.
I spent two weeekends running back home at the start of august, went to see the rugby, went back to all my old haunts and drinking holes. I would actually say it makes it harder than easier.
Anyone else lived from their hometown, and get home sick from time to time? |

I stayed because I know I'd feel like that if I moved. I was away for a month this year doing a charity thing and that's the longest I've ever been away from home. I suspect some won't really get that but I like home. I loved coming home after a month away, not least for some time alone, but to sleep in my own bed and have a poo in my own lav! |

I've lived away from Liverpool since I was 19. Never really felt homesick. However I'm glad I live back in the NW again now as it's easier to see my aging parents more frequently. Time with them is precious now |

I was born and lived in Aylesbury till I was 20 then moved to Telford. For years I would say Aylesbury was my home and went back as and when I could and would slate Telford. 20 years on again and Ive now moved to Daventry. I no longer miss Aylesbury despite being closer now than I was in Telford. I find I now miss Telford. Give it enough time and youll probably find one day where you now live has become your home. |

I left home aged eighteen and haven't been back since, I am what my mother calls her free-bird.
I've travelled all over and lived all over with the forces, now I'm in my little house by the sea.
I am however in the process of selling up and moving closer to my mum. We lost my dad four months ago and she's lost without him.
My family may not always be close in miles but we carry each other in our hearts, best way to be close to someone. |

I was a forces kid and we moved around a lot when I was young, so I don't really see myself as having a home town...went to a family funeral last week and all my cousins knew each other because they all grew up together and I felt a bit Billy no mates but my childhood offered me things they never got to experience so it's all kind of swings and roundabouts...home for me is the house I live in, I get homesick when away from my home and the things that make me feel comforted but never felt that way about a particular town or city |
