I dont usually post anything like this, but today a picture has gone all over facebook, im assuming its a image from violence in another country of a man crying over a child, i wont go into to much detail, but the image really got to me and i blocked it from my news feed.
I reported the image for graphic or violent images, which again ive never had to do, and i have just recieved a notification to say the image was not removed as it doesnt violaye the community standards.
WTF! If you have seen this image im sure you would agree.
Facebook fucks me off. |

I haven't seen the picture ... BUT ... I know what you mean about Facebook. I did the exact same thing with a video of a woman battering a toddler and apparently that didn't violate anything either. It's sick |

If the image or video is considered newsworthy or historically significant then they won't remove them, in some cases I agree. Just because it's happening somewhere else or it upsets you doesn't mean it's offensive. It's real life for many and it highlights people's suffering which could possibly motivate people to help.
What I do object to is the fact that Facebook repeatedly removes pictures of breastfeeding mothers and pictures of women who've survived breast cancer and had mastectomies. |

"Strangely though Facebook bans pictures of breasts and breast feeding."
They're funny about anything deemed as "to raunchy" friend of mine had a pic taken down that had a semi clad woman and a funny phrase about breakfast they took that too. Yet violence seems to be fine! |

Yeah, and they removed one from a friend's profile of a purple butterfly statue she had been given following a miscarriage.
On the topic of the lady battering the toddler or the violence happening in other places, I think if it hits the news and is reported from certain channels they won't take it down, regardless of it being reported by users who dont like it. It's freedom of the press, free speech, yada yada yada and FB could land in federal trouble for it. |

Maybe you should review your friends list if you don't like the pictures they're posting. |

I'd delete my account if it upset me so much - i rarely use mine and have never seen anything offensive but then i only have close friends and family as friends - you could be similararly offended by reading the papers Z |

Yes I have; some have been removed and some haven't, can't do anything about that but it is annoying as I worry about what people can see on my newsfeed thingy and don't want my kids seeing them irrespective of the fact that they are in their 20's |

Its not always about friends as I have joined a group that to me is something I am interested in but its what is posted on my news feed that bothers me so I have actually removed myself from the group |

I hate that stuff, too and Britain First cobblers that a lot of people share without realising that it is linked to the BNP. If anyone keeps sharing that stuff, I bin them as friends.
As it stands, it does tell me which of my old school friends and peeps I've worked with is most likely to start a conversation with, 'I'm not racist, but...' |

Social media can be good too. Lots of people sharing positive posts; good things going on in their lives, stuff about thier families and kids, pictures of them travelling the world. That Jason Manford post about deppression after robin williams died is a good example of people putting a postive message out there.
If Facebook cant filler out the bad stuff you can always self filter it and take it off your news feed. |
