I'm a pretty huge movie fan, so I usually end up at the cinema almost every weekend. I've been told this is not normal haha so I was wondering how many times you guys go, even if you're not a huge film fan or you don't go much it'll still be great to hear how often you go.
I study film and a big curiosity of mine is how people who don't go to the cinema often or don't know about many films before they come out decide on which film to see when they actually do go and how a films marketing works on you etc... |

I - Zoe -love going to the pictures but Steve isn't so keen so we don't go that often - having said that we went 2 weeks ago and saw a great film - can't remember the name of it now! Was about one night a year when you could get away with anything very scary! Z |

Every few months. Tend to only watch films where the visual effects really need to be appreciated on a big screen. Otherwise watch it on home cinema system. |

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum |
I visit my cinema a lot but that's because they do live screenings of plays and operas, as well as doing seasons, eg just had a Miyasaki season which I went to nearly every week. As for films, I very rarely see anything new as I am happy to wait for it to come out on TV, but I sometimes I have to go, and do so enough to have a membership for reduced price tickets. |

I have one of those annual cards but it goes in phases. Havent been much at all over the last few months, mainly because of the decent weather and too many kids films because of the holidays.
Soon be time to be going a couple of times a week again. And I enjoy doing a couple of films a day when the opportunity arises. |

"Why would you study a trip to the pictures?
Its a night out unless that is its to watch the expendables which is complete shite?"
As I said, I love film and every aspect of it. I like to know all avenues about it. Studios sometimes spend hundreds of millions of dollars to get us regular joe's to see their movies. So i'm very curious not just about the psychology of the people who market the movies but the psychology of the people who are being marketed to. |

Try to go at least every month unless a couple of big movies are on then more than once. Have full surround and big Telly at home but can't beat the cinema. Planet of the apes and guardians of the galaxy last 2 films watched. Top banana |

I pay a monthly card thingy too. Some months go a lot, other months, hardly there. Depends on whats going on in real life as well as whats on.
Last time I went, I spent the whole day and did a marathon 5 films back to back |

Fucking hell, Bravo! hahaha!
The most I ever did was 4 films in one day (one of those films was 3 hours aswell lol) I left my house at 12pm and got home exactly at 12am that day.
I think after the third film, things got a little hard to process. First film I saw was There Will Be Blood, then Definitely Maybe, then Juno then National Treasure 2. I barely remember any of National Treasure 2 cos my brain was fried at that time |

Not often enough. Going to the cinema alone is one of my favourite things. I wish I'd done that when I was younger. I always thought I'd feel like a spare prick going by myself. It's quite liberating that that's not the case at all. |

I have a cinema card and on average go once a week although that said I hadn't been for three weeks and saw two films in the last couple of days... I love it, it's my escapism. |

I've been doing this since I was about 11 I think so it's not foreign or an issue to me at all. a lot of the time, my friends don't want to go see the films I do (Although I love it when they do come along), also it's just nice to zone out by yourself sometimes and watch the film.
So many people I speak to, think it's just social suicide or something haha. They panic about what people will think or they look like billy no-mates. Always need to remind them that you're sitting in a dark room and facing towards a screen, no-ones looking at you haha. |

Oh yes I have to go alone. Preferably a weekday in the afternoon. When there are no kids. |

Maybe twice a year (if that)?...
Have been disappointed with most new films and couldn't justify the amount you spend to sit there bored, annoyed and uninspired. I think the last film I saw and enjoyed was Les Miserables...

For me it depends on what's showing.
Plus my local has half price tickets on twice a week, which is a bonus.
Last film I saw - Rise of the Planet of the Apes a week and a half ago.
And if I get time will go see Guardians of the Galaxy tomorrow. |

Yesterday I saw Expendables 3 as the cinema I passed only charge £4.99 a ticket. Prior to that Man of Steel. I'll be going back this week to see Planet of the Apes: £4.99 a ticket? It'd be rude not to. |
