Been a pretty sh@tty 2014, but every time Maiden are on the iPod, everything seems ok! Just wondered what everyone else listens to to raise their spirits |

It's specific songs for me - often involving a melodic guitar or a fine voice. This is doing it for me this morning - Santana and Tina Turner - class!!

Yea that makes sense, their early albums with DiAnno were a lot more raw, and still think Killers is their best release. However, having said that, think they are by far a better band since he left ( contradictory I know) in my view, best band in the world |

"Any track by Hayseed Dixie. Never fails to make me smile."
Weren't they the Guys who covered AC/DC in their early days? By all accounts, pretty smashing gigs |

The dianno stuff didnt really do much for me but that was mainly due to the weak production. They are without a doubt one of the best live bands ever. |

Have to agree with the production on the early records, but a lot from that time seem that way so maybe a sign of the times more that anything.
I don't do many concerts theses days, but never miss Maiden when they are about. How Bruce speaks to 15,000 but still makes it seem like you're in his front room is quite remarkable |

Agree about sign of the times. I dont like many early 80's or pre 80's bands or early albums from bands I got into later for the same reason. Ive slowed down a lot on gigs now but I used to goto 15 to 20 a year. Still catch a few. Going to see Survivor later this year |

Royal blood release ther debut album next week and most anticipatied album for me this year. Huge killer rock riffs all made on a bass guitar that hopefully will get these two guys firmly into the scene |

There are a few albums from that time I still listen too...Maiden as mentioned, Def Leps High n Dry, Van Halen 1 plus Women and Children and Fair Warning, and also an album called Narita by Riot. CD in the car at the moment is a double of Slade live....for my sins!! |

I'm more of a Roth era fan than the Hagar years. The album's they released with Sammy were still outstanding but they lacked a little of the rock n roll excess of the early years.

I too am a Roth era fan. Sammy's time didn't do much for me, which is surprising really as I love his solo stuff and Montrose is a very good album as well. Seen Chickenfoot and love them as well. |
