Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum |
I'm currently watching Columbo on 5USA and admiring the amazing fashion sense back then.
So for us old farts that were around back then, what was the piece of clothing you thought was amazing, but wouldn't touch with a 10' pole now?
I remember the short, flared, tartan trousers the Bay City Rollers and their fans wore, and am currently admiring the denim suit Roddy McDowell is wearing on the TV. |

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
"My blue cheesecloth shirt i wore in the hot summer of 76."
I had a white one that summer.
I think my brown flared trousers with yellow flower embroidery on the flares.
Spending all that time pulling the threads out of the bottom of my jeans. Why? |

My ex sister in law had her Bay City Roller tartan trousers welded to her arse.
For me it just had to be my cherry red Loons that fitted perfectly over the top of my 2" platforms. Wouldn't be seen dead in them today. |

"I wasnt born till 71 but I remember being about 7 and having some brick coloured cords I constantly wore "
I had a lovely brown corduroy suit, my sisters matching suit was blue.
We thought we looked awesome |

"A brown and crème jumper with 3 stars on the front and a bright yellow body warmer "
OMG I had one of those star jumpers! I loved it
I also had the fashion 'must haves' of the day... Oxford Bag trousers complete with massive flares, pockets down the sides and wide waistbands with 4 buttons. I also wore block platform shoes - it was the only decade I was over 5' 1" |

I had a pair of very high waisted blue trousers with wide legs and a pale blue shirt, tight fitting with a Gitanes motif and picture on the back, it tied at the waist I think. I wore these with a pair of sky high platform shoes. I'd wear that again but I wouldn't wear my blue floral maxi pinafore dress |

Can't think of anything I wore - bought some vintage Levi 525 flares recently and they do more for my ass than anything I've bought in the last 30 years, was like coming home haha!! Once a hippie rock chick......

My mum crocheted me a poncho in 1972. Problem was, she made it from grey nylon wool left over from making school cardigans. It was so stiff it looked like I was walking around wearing a sandwich board! |

I am exempt from ridicule as I was too young to buy my own clothes as I was too young, saying that there was a picture of me dressed in tartan as I used to like the bay city rollers but I don't remember any of it. |

70s fashions are great. I remember having this long dress with a layered frill on the bodice, I loved it. I was only a child but it looked very grown up.
I liked the colours, the embroidery on clothes, the garish patterns, the elasticated go go boots, the sparkly boob tubes and hotpants of the disco era, It was amazing.
I do have a vintage 70s dress and I love going out in it, |
