Question , ,,,,,,,, does it hurt and does it swell up , any advice would be greatfully received |

Not sure on it hurting.. my tongue was numbed with xylocaine, it was just a shock.
Yes it will swell, they will put a long bar in to compensate for this, and will swap it out for a smaller bar when the swelling goes down a couple of weeks later.
In the meantime, cause of the long bar, great care must be taken when eating, cause its very easy to bite down on one of the balls (ooer)  But that problem goes with a smaller bar. |

Yes and yes... I lost a stone after having mine peirced. Couldn't eat properly for days... That I think was the worst part!
It's painful, but very quick so the pain lasts a few secs. Awkward part... Hanging your tongue out like a cocker bloody spaniel! |

I took regular paracetamol and nurofen and ate a lot of ice. Hardly any swelling or lisp.
Changed to a shorter bar two weeks later and no problems. Recipients of oral have not complained |

I broke a lot of my back teeth on my tongue bar, from chomping down on it. It does hurt but doesn't stay painful for long. Have plenty of ice lollies or tip tops, this will help reduce the swelling. Good luck, and mind your teeth. X Mia |

I got mine done without any numbing. It didn't hurt one bit. Your tongue swells up a little bit for a few days but it is not painful. I love mine and I love the accessories you can get for it such as such as the tiggler. |

Yes it does hurt, but only the exit as there are very few nerves actually under the tongue, it can be numbed but this has very little effect and to be honest it's so quick it's hardly worth doing.
The swelling generally comes in on the second day but if you take regular arnica tablets, it should hardly swell at all.
The long bar can be changed within the week if all is well and washing a light salt solution round it twice a day for the first few days will help it heal quicker, but never be tempted by mouth wash as this will kill all the good bacteria in the mouth that helps the healing process.
Otherwise it's probably one of the easiest piercings to get  |
