I'd be more worried about someone with poor eyesight not seeing the little board that says stop.

we have had travellers near us in the past and really in all honesty the worst thing was the noisy kids/dogs up til all hours and the amount of rubbish they left when they were moved on - but everybody was more vigilant when they were about |

you sense wrong then, we live in very close proximity to a travellers site and my kids went to school with traveller children. |

I have seen and worked with Gypsy and Traveller communities. As with all I find there is good and bad and it's best not to generalise and assume the worst.

Oh I know plenty of bad things about them and my kids used to tell me stuff that made my hair curl but I just don't see the point in making remarks about people before they've done anything really. |

the travelling community here are lovely, kids all smart and at school parent polite. They've built chalet style mobile homes on the site and its immaculate

I've had plenty experience to form an opinion.
Obiviously this does not effect the wider community but when someone else expresses a concern (as the OP did) I can sympathise.

Has no one else picked up on the fact that the only person protecting the workers, if I my with a little sign, is either staring at her phone or watching Netflix!! Come on people, lives are at risk!! Look down the track woman!!

im a man and im not a lookout lol im above them . The trains are blocked from passing the little board lol

"Travellers are many things but I don't think they would be any more likely to attack a alone woman than any other group of people would."
In reality probably less than most they might describe themselves as clever traders but they are brought up with a respectful attitude to women in general. I know a few who travel and they would say the same and laugh and say they might rob your dog though in jest.  |
