I planted some pumpkins several months ago and they are still only the size of a large potato and I can't envisage them getting much bigger.
Am I a bad gardener? |

Have you been looking after them? Are they hiding under a big leaf waiting to pop out in time to Halloween and shout boo? How long are they supposed to take to grow to full size? Finally, did you plant those funny mini pumpkins they sell at Halloween?

It's been dry, hasn't it and pumpkins need a lot of water - now there is a bit of rain about they'll start to grow again (unless you have been watering them a lot, in which case, disregard my advice).
If you have been watering them a lot and they still haven't grown, consider feeding them. |

I've only got easy access to dog, cat, fox and human shit. I won't bother trying to grow a pumpkin.

No doubt the climate scientists will tell us that it's been the warmest summer EVER* but the vast majority of my garden plants don't agree. Many are nowhere near where they should be growth wise.
*not really.

Because its been dry - there was hardly any rain back end of June and a lot of July (although there was plenty April time), apparently the hay merchants are shifting inordinate ammounts of the stuff cos a lot of places have burnt off round here. |
