Male to male compliments

I have my own opinion on this, but wondered what others thought.
Why is it considered far more of a social norm for a woman to compliment another woman, than it is a male to another male? |

I think its the influence of religion largely, that inflated fears and loathing of gaiety and men were press ganged into becoming cyborg unemotional and hardened freaks of masculinity that didnt dare whisper much other than aggression with other blokes. |

I've noticed it doesn't happen often on this site. Although my group of mates, all who claim to be straight, compliment each other from time to time 
I think I've passed a few compliments to men on here but not often I must admit. |

im not a man, but i do tend to add the bit 'as a straight lass i just wanna say i think ....'
for some reason, maybe to indicate its not a sexual thing in fear that she might think im coming onto her..

Doesn't bother me in the slightest, in fact the other day in work I had a guy walk up to me to say nice beard lol (should point out its a tidy styled beard and not a Santa beard) |

I can find men attractive in a non-sexual way and see men looking good or doing or saying things I am impressed by that might cause me to pass a compliment without the hint of a sexual undertone.
On here however there is an ever present sexual undertone. But if Wish to pass a compliment I will. Often it is with a bit of humour which makes it less embarrassing I guess. |

I suppose it depends what or who you're complimenting. I don't think I've complimented strangers, friends yes. I've had guys come upto me and say nice shirt/shoes etc and I've thanked them. Deep down I wonder if they're gay, but it's still nice to hear. I find compliments off women are easier on my ear |

I put much of it down to my Polish roots. We kiss men and women when we say hello or goodbye. The same thing with compliments. |

I'm comfortable enough with myself not to worry about it and wouldn't feel uncomfortable when giving a guy a compliment.. Like nice car mate or great shot  |

im cool with it and i think we all like to hear compliments i it gives me a warm glow and i will compliment other men i see no problem with it does not mean i want to jump in bed with them and the same for woman |

Not something that would roll off the tongue but would have no problems saying that shirt looks good. |

It is funny we seem to be programmed to take the piss out of each other, but find it hard to complement each other.
Although a few days a go I bumped into some one who I hadn't seen in a few years, he had lost a shed load of weight. I felt it ok to mention that fact, so we can compliment each other just in safe topics. |

I don't know why guys do that. If they think givong or receiving a compliment affects their sexuality..there's some insecurities within themselves.
I have no issues with men, women or TVs/Ts complimenting me or trying to start a conversation with me.
Just because we speak doesn't mean my sexuality will change. I just like to speak to everybody and have a laugh. I think that's what it comes down to.
...it's only then do i think you'd realise how openminded and laidback people really are.

i think it is odd for guys compliment other gents. the other day, i was have drinks with my friends (a cpl and another single girl ) and the one lady goes to the other nice shirt and shoes. I mocked them and complimented my friends shirt and shoes. It just doesn't seem right!
on the other hand, i love it when i am fucking a guys wife and he compliments on me fucking her hard and that i have nice talents in bringing his wife to pleasure.
