iv just bought a new rug,it clashes horribly with the dog.

the rugs a smoky mauve,i could strip the dogs colour out and give him one of them coloured rinses the old ladies have

Swap the dog for a cat. They have an innate ability to avoid soft furnishings that don't compliment their colouring. Smarmy gits!

Cats Protection do sometimes have people wanting to return rescue cats or have their cat rehomed because they've redecorated and the cat doesn't match the new decor

hes blending in nicely now,hes had a good roll on it and a scratch,you wont be able to tell the two apart in a week,that will be another rug in a few months
