Renovating my house has become a war of attrition!

What damage have you done to yourself whilst DIYing?

in Lancashire

nearly drilled into my groin when a drill bit 'skittered' across a piece of metal I was drilling..

the bit wrapped itself in my trouser leg and the tip left a graze too close to my left testicle for my comfort..

hey ho..

My sink wouldnt drain. So lent over to have a look and headbutted the knife that was on the drainer.

The knife went into the bone and lifted off the drainer then dropped. I nearly passed out, but was thankful it wasnt my eye

Had a narrow escape last week while exiting the loft having finished wiring in new bathroom lights.

Totally missed the top rung and slid about 8ft straight down the ladder and landed flat on both feet, how i didn't break a leg/ankle etc i have no idea, didn't even bruise my arse as it clipped each rung

I did however fall off a 1 foot high platform about 2 years ago, right over on my ankle, could hardly walk for 3 weeks and it turned a lovely deep purple

That's the first time I've ever heard of Deep Purple being classed as lovely

I have stopped DIY for the summer. Nothing worth mentioning just constant cuts, grazes, bruises and broken nails. One part if being single I hate

I know a few metal heads that might disagree with that statement but deep purple is the best colour description- if i could be arsed to look i'd post a picture

I was bloody lucky. I was cutting some wood on a bandsaw when the wood had been cut with the saw blade, my hand shot forward and hit the blade. Thanks god all I did was cut an inch slice out of my finger.

A extension ladder I was using came apart when I was dropping it,

Hit my thumb on the way down and it ended up facing the opposite way,

I had to shake my hand from my wrist fast to help it pop back in,

I would of taken a picture of it but I was shitting myself

I got some lovely burns on my legs once whilst trying to cut the fuel tank off my land rover with an angle grinder. I was wearing shorts at the time.....

near the sounds of the wimborne quarter jack!

Had a beam from a concrete sectional garage fall on my head and had to get an ambulance out. Had head x-rays and the split glued up. This is the same garage that I had my heart attack a couple of days after I collected it, so it`s had two attepts at killing me!

I don't do DIY. Even painting - always end up like a painter's radio within minutes, and not in a good way.

Right now I'm suffering from some serious cardboard cuts (like paper cuts but more extreme) from packing up the house.

I'm a walking accident as it is DIY I'm banned from!

Cut through my finger in work with a Stanley knife severed the tendon and nerves ended up having microsurgery on it in Swansea's Morriston Hospital.

DIY wise.

Drilled through a kneecap while kneeling then tried to stand up with the Drill still going..Mucho Paino,Did the old trick of sticking a knife in the Toaster, that made my Hair stand on end and burnt three fingers,Put a nail through Central heating pipe while pulling up floorboards, Ladder slipped sideways while painting the corner of my House..luckily the neighbours car broke my fall it was the garage roof that broke my collarbone and wrist

Titz Towers, North Notts

Upset my Old Man by painting their outhouse whilst they were on holiday. They reckoned it made the rest of their place look like it needed doing and I got the blame.
