We have 2 spare rooms in our house now the kids have gone. We are undecided what to do with them. one is a lounge and the other is bedroom. What would you do with them? Rent them out? create a naughty room if you have meets and do not want to use the marital bed? a dungeon? Pool table? Gym?.. interested to know |

I have one child still at home. One of his friends is in one of my spare rooms,my granddaughter has claimed another for when she stays. I would be very careful who I invited into my home but it does work |

"I used one of my spare rooms as a play room when my children were young. You could have one converted into a walk in wardrobe
You are sounding like MrsH Now!!
"
Makes sense to me |

Lots of short term room let web sites now, where people pay below hotel rates, but look after themselves - you could just do that as a part time sex toy slush fund maker. Other times, it is any type of fantasy room. Rotate between standard play room, 6 0s theme, spooky or any fun easy to make theme for social and play get togethers. Or rent it as storage space. |

Thanks for the replies, there is still a bedroom and spare room downstairs if one of the kids comes back short term. MrsH already has one of the spare rooms that is full of her junk! Must admit I fancy a pool room downstairs and a play room upstairs.. MrsH fancies a young sexy Lodger!!!

Well after much head scratching etc we decided to do them as rentable rooms. Our house divides up well so the lodger will have their own private lounge, own bedroom and will use the main bathroom as we have an en suite bathroom and we will share the kitchen. Going to give it a whirl and see what happens. |

"Lodger now gone so on the look out for another "
Try contacting local adult education colleges/uni's to see if any foreign students need accommodation. Their reliable for the rent, usually very well behaved and often just there for one year then you get another. |

Whatever you do make sure there is no room for the kids to come back! Friend of mine had both children leave home in early 20's started to live life well with time and money he never knew existed... by late 20's they found outside expensive so moved back in, he now has no money and little time again
Best advice is sell up and buy a place where every room is used! |

Thanks for all the ideas.. MrsH wasn't keen on my idea of turning it into a man cave, despite the fact she has a room of her own that is so full you can hardly get in the door! We have decided to free up another of our rooms and have advertised it locally as it is now a large bedroom with its own private lounge. Going to use the money for visiting clubs on a weekend!! |
